Will you guys PLEASE stop this nonsense? They were STANDARD EQUIPMENT on a model of Cadillac during the fifties. What more do you ****in' need as proof?!?

"With a "leg up" on other companies, General Motors used its experience with commercial bus air suspension to introduce systems for its automobile lines, introducing it as standard equipment on the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham in the 1957 model year.[4] The following year it was offered as optional equipment on all Cadillacs, and in 1959 it was made standard equipment on all Eldorados. Air bellows at each wheel replaced standard coil springs, and had sensors to keep the car level under load and in turns. It was too slow to react in sudden maneuvers. Period reviews rated the air suspension somewhat superior in ride quality, but not dramatically so."

I'm just a dumb kid, but I'm sure there are a lot of things that people do everyday that aren't traditional that no one second guesses. Like radial tires and disc brake conversions or using parts off of cars that weren't even built until the 70's or later. I do get a kick out of how much some fellas get their ******* in a bunch over that stuff. To each is their own I suppose. It seems like bags have become pretty well accepted by most guys. The good thing is that you don't have to use them if you don't want to :D

I am aware that air bags were available on certain cars in the 50s, even the 58 Impala had air suspension that was optional but those systems were troublesome and they were not common, as I mention. We could go back and forth like a ping pong ball but like Sloppy Egg says, "To each it's own" and I apologize to all for getting so far OT but I stand by my words.
    Peace

In the original post by the OP, it states no bags no pumps. HOW do some of you BRING in the option of either? That is steering (!) the topic off corse. And once again that lame '******* in a bunch' w a y past worn out phrase is thrown in as well. Contribute to answer the question with revenant information.

Not according to the Vehicle Code.

24008. It is unlawful to operate any p***enger vehicle, or
commercial vehicle under 6,000 pounds, which has been modified from
the original design so that any portion of the vehicle, other than
the wheels, has less clearance from the surface of a level roadway
than the clearance between the roadway and the lowermost portion of
any rim of any wheel in contact with the roadway.

  8. Why not leave the suspension alone
Just make the wheel wells smaller and the rockers closer to the ground.:D

I guess that was my fault. I was just asking why not bags. Theeeen came the ******* match. But never2old said it wasn't traditional, and that should have ended it. (or at least for me it did)

OK well here's my .02. I would start with getting the top of the front wheel to match the top of the front fender arch and level out the *** end to match. Adjust a little up or down for taste.
