C'mon guys.... show us some of those vintage Indy nationals (drag racing) pics you got stashed away. Show us the Cars, Campgrounds, sites, pits, hotel car shows, staging lane pics, etc. This is the grand daddy of them all. Dig deep and let's see them!... thanks in advance! Tom Sheehan GT/IA 1046 ps.... my dad took me there in 1968, and I have not missed but a few!
Here is one I took years ago when we used to have tech inspection at the circle track next to the track....
I have an awesome magazine/program from the 25th running of the nationals, tons of cool pictures and history.
Tom thanks for sharing. Those must have been some great times. Do they still have an event at Indy around Labor day. Thanks JT
Here's some pictures from the 63' and 64' Nationals. First pic is Top Fuel Eliminator Hirotta / Hobbs (?) , Crane Engineering dragster, Ohio George A/GS winner,Row two Gas cl*** winner (?), two Super Stocks (?), 63' T'Bird from the AMT Custom Caravan and my two smart *** bud's flipping the bird at the camera. Last, two Super Stocks, The Honker and Color Me Gone (I think). I have more pic's from 64' plus some video if I ever figure out how to download it.
OOPS! Pic #5, (the little one) is not two S/S"s. A black Willys and a 32 Ford roadster. Little Eliminator run off?
please keep this thread going this could turn into a very cool thread almost as cool as the drag cars in motion thread
Well I guess I'm carrying this thread for now. Here's more pic's from 64'. Who else has pic's of Indy?In this group are more fuelers, Fuel Altereds, Chrisman's Comet,Street Roadsters and some Modified Sports.
Here's a super pic that PARTSRIVET posted earlier today. He said it was the start of time trials at the '66 Nationals.....
Don Garlits won that year. Quite a difference between car, crew, and transport then and now. I think THEN was a lot better and much more fun.
As a long ago Minnesota native, thanks for the pictures of the Lutz and Lundburg Anglia and Al Tschida's Willys. They were my boyhood heros.
