Well im gonna start posting the progress as I go. Just a bit of info on the car and what gonna be happening with it over the next year or so. I bought it from a guy that had it sitting in the back of a uhaul for god knows how long. After 8 hours and 6 people that hate me now, we got the car into my garage lol. It originally started out as someone trying to turn it into a dragster, but those plans have completely changed now that its in my garage. We are gonna bag and flat rocker the car. goin all black beside maybe some whitewalls if that's the way I decide to go. Im building this as I save up money to buy parts and I spend most my time off work with my son so don't expect a ton of progress weekly lol

So far ive got everything to bag the front Dropped uprights and lowered steering arms, disc break conversion, the front deluxe rebuild kit, bags, and the cups. Just cleaned the front suspension up to work on it and will of course respray it once all the cutting and welding on the spring hats is complete. Just noticed this week that the lower arms are bent so ill be at the scrap yard this weekend pulling a set off a 49 and the steering box and column from a 52 hes got there.

Well, if you have it done in 14 years the little guy should be able to drive it to high school. That is about the rate of progress I have on my projects lately.

It looks like you are steady ready making progress and have the stuff there so that you can work quite a while without much interruption. I'll be following this one.

Thanx guys... Buildig it safe is definatly te number one priority since the little guys gonna be riding with me everywhere it goes. Trev dont look to close lol mine is not going to be anywhere as wild as yours, just going low and simple. This is my 1st shot at a old ride (beside a 78 chevy luv) ive had lots of bagged trucks and a bagged car but its all been modern and no where near the project this is. Definitely excited to drive it some year lol

Thats what im doing buying it one piece at a time its finally ready to have the frot bagged so im hoping to have that done over the next few weeks which on a 54 is the expensive part lol usually the back the hefty price tag because of the link and stuff but with everything ive bought and now buying a new set of lower arms ill be in the front end for about 2000 by the time it lays on the ground.

  13. I tip my hat to you. its a job building a car but with a family its that much harder. I have friends with a few of these so if you need parts i have some good contacts and cheap to.

I will keep that in mind. Thank you very much. It def would go faster without a family but i wouldnt have it any other way. My son is the most important person in my life so i spend all the time i can with him and the 54 is second lol

yea it is pretty solid even the floors just need very minor repair in 2 spots. the worst of it is on the driver side lower quarter of course... its about a 7" by 4" section that someone cut out to replace. Im gonna buy a whole new lower quarter to fix that. more focused on getting it bagged body dropped and rollin on its own wheels for now, then im doing the drive train, then the body, and last is gonna be the interior. For now the whole interior is gonna get sprayed satin black when i paint the rest of the car. I gotta find a decent interior person to re cover my seats, headliner, and the rest of the interior pieces that need it but that is a LONGGG way off haha

54 steering box is much better than the 52. 54 box has a needle bearing on the sector shaft where the 52 has a bushing. 54 also has a slower ratio which makes it easier to steer.

Finally got the frame back from the prison... My luck of course, it rained before we could get it into the garage so it got completely rusty again. Thanx to the wonders of ospho were back to clean! Finally its onto some hackin and weldin and gettin this things bagged. No car likes to be alone so its accompanied by Dave's 62 Biscayne frame hes in the process of getting on the ground on those sweet ass 22s

Finally a update! got the front end put back together and the disc breaks on so dave can start cutting this thing apart and getting it to clear for the bags. Also got a 2nd new rear end today since the 4x4 blazer disc rear end i bought isent gonna work due to the frames width. Should be bagged and ready to strap back to the car by the end of the month!

Awesome build so far! Your "slow build" is going a lot faster than mine...

Do you know what model wheel those 22's are? I'm looking for the same style (not as big) for my '52 coupe. thx
