Need some help. Some people on the internet say you can use a mid 80s Corvette driveshaft in a 32 ford setup with a turbo 350 trans. My measurements for my car is 37 inches from the flat surface on the tail shaft to the flat surface on the pinon yoke. The mesurments on a Corvette drive shaft from the center of the u joints to u joint is only 28 inches. I can't see how you can make up 9 inches with the tail shaft yoke installed on the drive shaft. Any ideas?

  2. Just have a proper length drive shaft made. Why track down a used shaft based on what someone on the Internet said? There are too many variables

Well, the position of the engine, type of transmission and placement of the rear end ... all play a part in determining driveshaft lenght. :D

Ford had at least 3 different length pinion yokes. A Turbo 350 comes in different lengths also. So does a Turbo 400.

BUT ... I do in fact have a late 80's stock, unmodified Aluminum driveshaft in my 32 Ford roadster. My transmission is a 400 Turbo long tail housing model so the short 28 inch Corvette driveshaft fits PERFECT. The long tailhousing Turbo 400 is about 9 inches longer than a short one.

I've used an eighties Corvette driveshaft in a 350/350 '32 Ford too. I used a Mustang Fox rear axle. The aluminum driveshaft fitted perfectly and polished up like chrome too.
