Does anyone know, or can tell me how to determine whether this is a 215 or 265? It came out of a 1953 F100

1st year for inline ohv's was in 1953, the 215.

The 2nd gen of inline 6s for ford:

    215
    223
    262 (1960-1961 I believe)

Check the placement of your oil filter.

Right right side, center area of the block = 215

Right side, front area of the block = 223/262

    That is a 215.

Very close but 1952 was the first year for the 215 as it was offered in the F-1 that year.
