For "That's Not Rust" ... Monadnock Speedway (in Winchester, NH) wasn't built until the dawn of the 1970s. In its first season it had asphalt straightaways and dirt turns, and it was primarily a stock car track right from the start.

However, just up the road at the fairgrounds in Keene they used to run AAA "big car" races, some of which were attended (and called) by the likes of Chris Economaki and Ken Squier.

Keene Fairgrounds surrounded by hills so-
Maybe it is a photo of Dover Speedway c 1946 - Former 1/2 mile dirt track
Just then converted into a paved 1/4 mile
Look behind turn one and you can see what appears to be the remnants of the old 1/2 mile front stretch.
Part of the New England Big Car Assn 'Fair Circuit'.

I just posted my question on the midget thread, but I thought with all the expertise on the sprint board that I would ask my question here also.
I just recently sold my old Kurtis midget chassis. The chassis had lots of "updates" and "improvements" over the years and really needs a lot of work.
The new owner wants to restore it to original Kurtis specs and configuration so he can use it without a body.....to display his 110 Offy.....in his house!!
The buyer is asking me for any information or references for a good, trusted, quality Kurtis chassis restorer that some of you may know personally or have had work done by them. Prefer midwest, but would be open to any and all suggestions. Thanks

You can also go streight to Arlen Kurtis as he has all the origional jigs and it is kinda neat when you say it was restored by Kurtis Kraft.

Occures to me that it's been just a mere 1/2 century ago:rolleyes: this month, that Dan, Jimmy, Colin and their entourage from Ford rolled into Indy.
By the end of the month it didn't take any kind of psychic to see the future and it wasn't a pretty sight for the roadsters. :(

Arlen has been building Kurtis Kraft midgets for years from his own jigs. He has just completed #30 along with restoring real Kurtis midgets from all over the world. He is almost ready to complete the 001 Roy Russing midget and only needs paint and interior. It is a great car. Along with the midgets he restores and builds new copies of the old sports cars. I think he has about 5 in his shop right now. Just finished restoring a midget for a guy in Australia. At 79 he keeps very busy and is sharp as a tack.

Probably apochraphal, I recall someone telling me that when Foyt drove into the infield and saw that big trailer with the Ford logo on the side, he said, "Oh, s**t. Maybe not this year, but soon."

I wouldn't be surprised if Enzio Ferrari said the same thing at Le Mans a year later.
