We had 2 vette front ends in pieces, an 84 and a 90, not sure what control arms and spindles I used to be honest (think theyre the same anyhow) but I DO know I used 84 calipers, brackets and rotors- keep that in mind if you want to run 15" wheels- the 84-85 stuff will clear, 87 or so and up will not. Dad got the crossmember kit from progressive automotive- theyre still around and online. I believe the kit was for a 35 standard, as the guy said it cant be done with a master. We got it to work, but youll need to do some fit and fab on the rad support and headlight brackets, cut the upper frame rails to install the upper control arm/shock mounts and weld em back in, and notch the rails for rack clearance. I also added a couple gussets to tie it all up. The kit uses QA1 coilovers, 90 tbird rack, and vette tie rods, and is a nice, heavy duty, well built kit.
The look is cool- a nice mix of old and new, and the ride and handling is absolute tits n beer, but the mustang II might be a bit more of a plug n play setup if you dont feel like screwing around with the fab stuff.

Been awhile, hope youre all dodging the rain drops and putting some miles on.
Just wanted to drop in and make an appearance. The coupe is running great, with a good thousand miles under her belt now. It made the 200 mile round trip to Steel in Motion and even took a couple wins on the dragstrip- against comparable vehicles anyhow ha. Kinda tough coming out of the hole with a 4 speed and 2.56s but sure is a breeze on the interstates, netting me a tick under 23mpg on the trip and averaging upper teens around town. Planning on a better but still mild set of 3.08s or 3.36s later this summer.
Thank you all for all the help and good comments on this build- it was quick and fun, and like all true hotrods, its never complete!

  6. Good to hear that everything is going well with the Chevy. Those new gears will definitely help the low end but it will probably best not to keep track of the gas mileage anymore;)

  7. Glad to hear you've been driving it! The gears will definitely help out. Enjoy the ride!

This is really awesome to see, sorry about coming to thread late but super clean work. I really like what you did with the frame.

Thank you all! Its the rainy season here in nc so youll probably see my ugly mug around these parts a bit more as i upgrade some things on the 35. Shes still running like a champ!
