Have installed a few over the years, no problems at all!
As you know any thing you buy has the potential to have problems.
Did you get it from Summit? I'm sure they will take care of it!
    Good Luck, KK

I got one that kept flooding. It was dirty in the bowls and needle seats.

Did you make sure that the bowl was clean of any foreign material? Did you set the float level (shipping can shift it)? Are you running a regulator? If you are running a regulator, what pressure is it set at? If you are not running a regulator, what is your maximum observed fuel pressure?

What are the specific issues? You do know that no carburetor can be guaranteed to work for every application, right out-of-the box, and almost all, almost always need a good tuning, right?

I bought one from a guy that was almost new, he installed it and had flooding issues. I removed the top and cleaned it out with a spray can of carb cleaner and it still works after 15 years of use. Best $100 carb I ever bought.

The carbs are so simple, any problems should be easy to remedy.

I bought one of the reman'd units and also had the flooding problem. I was chasing a problem at the time and just put a Holley on it and replaced a MSD box which fixed the original problem. Never went back to the Edelbrock, still sitting in the box, really should fix it I guess.

It seems to be a common practice to replace an Edelbrock carburetor, when it just needs minor adjustment. Cool for me, I buy them, near new for $75-$100, sometimes even less.

If your pressure is over 5.5psi, you WILL have trouble. Get a regulator (and a good one) and set it to 5psi.

I have only bought remans, probably 8 of them over the years, with zero problems. I buy mine from All American Carburator ( never could spell that word ) in Florida, and their guarantee is one year vs 90 days that you get on a new carb.

Anything that does not claim over 6psi. max. Otherwise, run a regulator.

Just happened to be skimming the message board and have been having the same problem with the Edelbrock carb on my T-bird. Carb floods when I restart after warmed up. 6 lbs max and a good regulator, would using a bypass style regulator make any difference or just plug return port. Always something to learn here. Thanks fellas.....

gotcha, thanks for the info. and remember, always fix it till its broke!

  21. The rebuilds have issues for some reason.

  22. G'day, I have a box of Edelbrocks out in the garage. They make damn good door stops. The wind keeps catching my walk in door and the Edelbrock is just right to keep it from moving. Every one has been checked for fuel pressure and were within limits. Replaced with Holley carbs and never a problem.

Yeah, and I lost track somewhere in the low hundreds, the successful installs. All of the "bad" ones I have found, were so, due to user/installer error, or failure to properly tune them. Perhaps all of the ones in your box really are the really bad ones I've never encountered.

Same here, I have always had good luck, except I set them a 3.5-4 p.s.i.
