A few years back I went and saw a KICKASS band called the Bellfuries when I was still livin' in CA...bought their CD (Plain Lonesome) and ABSOLUTELY love it! I know they broke up when Joey moved to LA. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows if he ever started another band? I also wanted to know if anyone knows of any other bands that have that "Bellfuries" sound? I really dig it!
Rehearsals are going on right now for a the new band. Not sure if they are calling themselves the Bellfuries or not. Joey is back in Austin. I don't know if it's public yet, so I won't reveal the lineup. But trust me when I say that it's a rockabilly All-Star band. I can't wait.
*seriously* I got the fuckin' chills when I read that post! Thanks you made my day! Can you keep me posted?
hell, i thought they were still in business. i thought only myself and a few select others even knew of them. then again we saw them 3 years ago... man time flys. when we saw them, the crowd kept them going trying to see how many Hank Williams tunes they could play as an encore not once did they get stumped. incredible set...great band.
some jerkoffs broke into my wifes car and my truck, stole both stereos and all of our cd's. that was one of them that got ripped off and i was more pissed about that cd than any of the others. still haven't found it for sale anywhere....
I was talking to Chicago's Jimmy Sutton - from Jimmy Sutton & the Four Charms & The Mighty Blue Kings and he had stated a year or two ago he bought the rights to that Bellfuries album so he could repress it because it was such a highly requested C.D. It was never repressed after the band broke up. I'm not sure if he did follow through with the repressing or not. I personaly think it is one of the best all around albums put out by a modern day RAB group as far as musical qaulity and qaulity of the audio mastering and mixing. They played a bar I used to manage in Milwaukee, The Reed Street Station, twice and both shows we're TOP NOTCH. Other bands of this caliber some others may want to check out would be: The Horton Brothers, High Noon, Paul Ansel, Daryl Highem & the Barnshakers.
I miss The Bellfuries, Joey is an awesome guy, and has a voice that kicks a$$. The band went south when the guitar player left, so I heard. The bassist was one of the best up and coming, and I forgot his name, it's been a while. Good news to hear Joey will be coming back and playing.
