I've a set of lid return springs (2x 'C' shaped springs) from 'Vintique'. I know from a friend that my roadster will only want one but how the heck does it fit & work? Do I have to close the spring in a vice to get the correct 'opening'. At present neither spring fits anywhere.
Any help, diagrams, pictures or advice would be much appreciated.

Fordbarn.com probably has an expert that can answer this question.

I bought some of the aftermarket springs and I believe they were too strong and I did not like their fit or function. I found some original Ford springs which fit right and I was able to "adjust" them to work well in my car.

The springs fit under the glove box door hinge bar on the inside of the glove box and clip to the lower edge of the glove box door on the outside.

I had to fool around with the springs and glove box door for a while to get everything to work properly. Just be patient and make small adjustments.

This photo my help. Good Luck.

Another thing that can help to keep the glovebox closed, is to use a small earth magnetic behind the dash. Cheap, it works, unseen, and not destructive. Maybe a little cheesy fix though...
