How desirable is this coupe? (1942 Hudson)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Barsteel, Apr 28, 2013.

  1. From the picture, It looks to have ****py paint over rough work on the fenders and side. Any time someone claims a car that old is "rustless" or rust free, either they are full of ****, or know nothing about old cars. Or in many cases both. And yes it's ugly....and not in a good way.

  2. Generally they will put out too, but in the morning, you wake up with an ugly girl.:D Or at least that's what I've been told;)

Don't be so quick to state so strongly that someone is "wrong!" unless you're absolutely sure. I know what the hell I'm talking about, and I don't make a habit of stating things as fact if I don't. I'm not familiar with the '40 Hudson. Maybe the firewall and steering box is different, which may well be the case if you had to make clearance for your distributor. Because there's plenty of room for a rear distributor in the '46/'47...and I believe in the '42 also...due to the cove in the firewall...just as I stated.

Reminds me of lyrics in a song Willie Nelson did a few years back. "Came in at 2 with a 10, woke up at 10 with a 2."

The only person you need to satisfy is you, so if you like it buy it. It may not have the coolest body lines, but it still cool in it's own way.

    CRUISER

Used to own a '47 Coupe. Had a '56 324 Olds Rocket and Hydro, that thing would just hump up and haul! One ride that I have always regretted letting get away.

  9. That'd be neat with a twin-H 308 and upgraded hudson suspension/ driveline. Like a pre- NASCAR NASCAR.
Don't chop it- chops are for little people.

He told me $7500 or B/O, way out of line for that car in that condition. It might make a good g***er, but proportions are wrong for leadsled/rat.

It's a car that you buy because you like it, not a car that you buy to re-sell.

Whoa - Put down the Crack pipe, that tuna boat would never make a Good G***er, it's the opposite if what makes a G***er work.
And wrong proportions for a RAT? Is there any such thing - they all look like ***

Common cars for the common guys.

Uncommon cars for the uncommon guys.

Pretty simple. But I wouldn't go seven grand without laying eyes, fingers, and a magnet on it, and a test drive.

You buy, own and drive a vehicle because it fits YOUR needs and desires. If you are out to impress, then ask the crowd.

I think it's pretty cool looking!
Don't pay too much for it and turn it in to your ride...You won't park next to another one at the cruise night.

arkiehotrods - cool website - if one wants to know what a certain car/year looks like.

    what does that mean?
i worked on a four door a few years back and thought it was a well made car, very cool e-brake set up and emergency, brake loss, backup! it would be a tough car to price because finding lots of comps will be hard.
running and moving with proper paper work has value.
