he bagged the front with the stock suspension setup?? looks like just aftermarket control arms. interesting, how does it ride?
do you have a pic of the lower arms before they where installed? they look good. nice stance. i want my 54 sitting that low.
I agree, That is some great fab work. How's your comin? Thanks again for the hoispitality, that was way cool
Looks great on the ground. It takes lots of work to make em lay out, but they look great when they're done. Are his 4-link bars from Suicidedoors? I've used alot of them and they look the same. The firestone sleeves in the rear will give him a nice ride too
Man, I keep telling myself I gotta drive out there and see that in-person. Maybe when my dad come into town in November I'll run him out there. Thanks for sharing the pics (again!), Danny.
Fab work looks good. I have to hurry up and get through with my chop so that I can get to work on the footwork of the car.
Thats sweet work on the front....give us more pics on that part of the set up and some before and afters on the lower control arms...Im doing my fifty now, got the rear done but not sure how the fronts will work. The 50 has that narrow spring pocket. Any ideas would be great cause the bag just dont fit!!!!!
that's frickin awesome. i hope to get my chevy that damn low. he does some clean work. don't mean to hijack here, but is it possible to bag a chevy without having to go to an Mustang II frontend?
are you NUTS? your car has the perfect stance too. i told you already. i need to catch up to you. all you've ever heard of my 54 is one day. well that one day is coming soon. you better watch out. 133,,,, yes you can use the stock set up. Happy Hoppy has a the stock set up. check out this link too. http://www.eyeballproducts.com/BlueEye/PBEIndexEng.html
We ( Dirty31 and myself) left his shop at around 3:00 AM and he was still at it. Kenny is trying to make it to goodguys today . I will try to get more picts.
boones,,, if you look real close at the two pics closest to the c notch(one from the front of the axle, one from the rear...bottom two pics in the first post) he's got the upper bag mount bar triangulated, he just dont have the second brace installed in the second pic... least it looks like it to me. if not, i'd have the same question you do i doctored up a couple pics to explain my meaning T
That thing is going to have some serious pinion angle change as the suspension travels. The upper bars are way to far out at the frame. The correct geometry is hard to explain, but the upper bars should have an intersect point with the lowers, to make it travel in the same arc. The upside is his fab work is very nice.
Terry, actually this is correct. If you point the upper bars down at all you will have a greater pinion angle change and some serious roll steer. I have fixed about a half dozen cars from "reputable" shops that point the upper control arms down in front. ALL of these cars exhibited poor handling charicteristics from wieght jacking, roll steer and plain old funkyness coming from the rear. All you have to do is inspect any car ever made with a triangulated rear axle to see it. BTW, nice work on the Chevy!
I didn't mean to point them down, I meant they should be headed more toward the front of the car. In any GM type 4 link, you can run an imaginary line through the upper bar and crossover the lower bar front pivot.
i got to meet kenny today and check out his car at Goodguys [so glad he could make it!] and the fabrication is just sick. I love the way it looks as-is... There wasn't a better 54 out there and that's a fact, Jack. Super sick job. That's all I've got... -Fernando Jr.
