I've been building a '51 on and off over the years and decided to bolt in a Jag XJ6 front end in. Did it one afternoon with no experience. They have out board shocks that require a bracket to be made but air bags will go straight in as well. Rear end is stock re-worked leafs with C notched ch***is.

I have a 52 f-1 . Its a truck so i dont mind if it rides like a truck. There was a tech artical in a cl***ic truck mag that shows how to notch the front of the fram so there is roon to flip the front axle on top of the springs. so i removed some springs and notched my frame . if you want some pics I have them step by step of what i did.

it sounds like you're going to go with what mike said here. if so please don't miss one VERY important detail that he said: "flatter springs". if you just get on the phone and order up reversed eye dropped springs you might have your truck sitting higher than what it is now. it's happened before. 3" dropped springs are 3" lower than brand new original springs; NOT 3" lower than your 50+ year old springs. your 50 year old springs could be more than 3" lower than original springs already. so you might want to be more specific about the contour of any new springs that you order.

I have a 51 f1. Been driving it about a year, and wished I had gone with the m-2 and late model v-8. I removed a few springs out of the pack front and rear looks good drives bad. Flatheads are cool but I like a little more power .

Thanks everyone for the revival of this thread. I've been travelling overseas for work and my project truck is just sitting quietly waiting for me to actually come home and do something. Anything.

I've not decided on what route to take, although the more I read about the Dakota front end the more convinced that that is the way to go...

After getting sidetracked into some of the old threads about So-What trucks, I have to admit that the S-10 conversion is a really cool way to go. I think if i had a 47-54 chevy 1/2 ton, that is what i'd do.

The flathead is definitely going to be saved for another project. And it seems that the F1 is a very good donor vehicle for a number of other components for an early model A project. So, of course i'm looking for the right project for all these great F1 parts, i might have a line on a '31 ford truck.

Of course these are the b.s. thoughts of someone far from home, who has nothing better to do than imagine the perfect shop with 2 or 3 great projects going at once....if only it were reality.

    Hey Fellas,

I got a question for you Ford guys. I have a stock, complete, not running 1950 Ford F1 truck and I am planning on selling it. How much do you think this is worth? I just wanted to get an idea, thanks.

This is a low buck solution I did. Traded for a big ol Pontiac w/455 400 turbo, used eng ,****** and tilt column in my 48 Ford 1/2 ton. also had a 68 Chrysler front and rear suspension. I put all of these things under the 48. I drove great ,except could hardly p*** a gas station,"I was a leadfoot". Good luck whichever way you go. Jerry:D
