Can anyone identify these slot mags ??? They are 8" x 15" They have made in USA & RWI & SPEC 5-1 on the rear
Langy, I'm thinking Fenton Gyros-- Notice how the flat lugnut surface is slightly depressed below the curved slots? Here are some other Gyros for comparison:
Whereas these Ansen Sprints have the flat lugnut mounting surface slightly raised _above_ the surrounding slots. Like these:
Many slot wheels were cast by Rockwell in the '70s IIRC - I can't help but wonder if that's what the RWI is. I don't think many Rocket wheels were actually made in USA after mid '60s. Curious to see if a definitive answer pops up.
From what I know RWI..is Rocket...my 1968 Bell Auto Parts catalog is already showing slot mags though they were Ansen..
Western's dipped in like that but the back side was different, I have also seen Ansen's that were depressed as well. I think these are Rocket, this is the backside of a set of Rocket's and it looks the same
This is a shot of my slots on the topolino...notice my centers look like they are recessed..but are really up. They're old Rockets...the numbers and the RI look like they was stamped in by hand.... they're mounted on the fiat so i can't shoot the backs....but they are solid....wasn't any issue to redrill them for the big olds Henrys axels i got too good of a deal to p*** on em Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Thanks Gary, I compared them to the 8 x 15 Ansens I have but they are different, the windows look slightly different on the gyro's
You will need the correct washers and lug nuts try here: http://ride411.com/index2.php?option=com_sobi2&sobi2Task=sobi2Details&catid=0&sobi2Id=7005&Itemid=
I had a set of 4 15x8 5on 5.5 I looked them up and I found from what I read that there were made in Germany not sure of the year. But RWI meant Revolutionary Wheel Industries. I had a barn fire in 2016 and lost them. Can't seem to find any like them anywhere. defenbaugh67
Hi Wayne...Welcome to the Hamb...While there's nothing wrong with responding to an older thread when the Members Avatar says Member Emeritus as The Late Hamber Langy's does they are deceased and no longer with us...Just letting you know...and perhaps your input will help someone else...
Send Scott @ Detroit Vintage Wheels a message, he will be able to identify them, and can fully machine/restore them if needed. He does amazing work. https://www.facebook.com/detroitvintagewheels/
