I'm looking to find the C/A84 or C/A182 1932 B Model Ford. It was my brothers. Steve Kinder, from Centerville, Indiana. He died in a plane crash in 1970. The car was sold in 1962 or 1963, whereabouts unknown. I've been trying to locate this car for years or even find photos of it as it competed in 1961. This car set the track record at Muncie Dragway, Muncie Indiana in 1960 12.25 at 112.5 mph. that never was broken. Not many photos from the inaugural 1st year in Indy. 1961 was one of the last year guys built cars like these in their garages, before the big money came. I believe Mickey Thompson had 9 or 11 cars entered in 61, sponsored by Pontiac. All of us old timer were elated when Thompson only won one class. The middle photo C/A182 was in 1960 at Muncie Dragway before it was finished painted. C/A84 was the number assigned the car at the 61 Nationals. The third photo it was loaded, we were leaving for the Nationals. We located another photo of the rear of the car. Forgive the Dude with the polish cloth "ME" The photo that reads SPONSORED BY MUNCIE DRAGWAY The car has been replicated by a man who was 14 yrs old in 1961 from the same town. He remembered it as the coolest car he had ever seen. The bottom middle photo is that car. The photo third down on the right is an old faded slide photo dated June 1961. Found in a shoe box of my late brothers. The last two photos are the car in 1965 & the late 1980's. It was owned by Marshall Miller Connersville, Indiana. He raced it under the name of SUGARBEAR. Miller sold the car in 1968 to a Robert Hook of Fountaintown Indiana. Hook continued to race it under the name "SUGARBEAR" and owned it some 20 years. He sold it to a Wayne Coates of Fountaintown, Indiana. This is where the trail stops again Thanks! poprk
My Dad has two tudor bodies that were chopped a lot and channelled. They both look a lot like your car. It could be either one. Or it could be neither. There's probably a thousand '32 tudors with a similar chop and channel out there. Do you have any more details, like what color it was in that shiney pic?
I believe this had a 5" chop, 8" channel and the body was also set back 25". Although I don't remember what dropped front axle it had. It had a quick change rear end. That's a 1961 Bonneville and the Altered was the same color. Maybe Coronado Red
Maybe some of us old guys that were from that part of the country will see this thread and possibly be of some help to you.
