Think Mr. Goodwrench would be disappointed? Mid 70's Ranchero rear. Has the same tread width as the '46 Caddy. (63" or so, pretty wide.)

No, but his half-brother Bentwrench might! :)

Not a lot of progress, but some is better than none. Front clip mounting is now set up. Next, the front bumper and rear end.

Looks good! 65-70 impala rear is also a good fit for the car, I have a 68 impala rear in my 47 cad. Fit perfect.

Yes, I've used an Impala 12 bolt before. Good rear. Decided to use a 9 inch on this one. Car looks even better with the hood set on it.

Next steps, sandblasting, body and paint. Original thought was a flat black, but a big Caddy needs some color. So, will probably go with a 2005 Escalade blue.

A little perspective. First picture was taken in mid-January. Second picture was taken today. Maybe I'm not so crazy after all.

HOW could you consider yourself "crazy" for saving a Cadillac...especially a fat fendered '47...my third favorite year after my '55 Coop Deville and my '48 Sedanet...

I shot a '47 convert at ThorntonFest yesterday...as soon as I can get it out of the camera, I'll post it here...it's a gorgeous Maroon...

AND, shiny paint MUST be on that Cadillac...flat black just won't do those curves any justice...JMHO...!!!

The crazy comment comes from having to ignore pretty much everybody who saw the parts and pieces as I collected them over the past 4 years. The car has gone from a WTF reaction to a "cool, what's next" reaction. Very few people can see potential in a pile of rusty parts.

Think I've seen pictures of that maroon '47, but please post, I'd love to see more.

Second what 40studedude says, glad to hear you're going for paint. The blue sounds great, although maroon would look equally nice, either will be a great choice. Progress looks really good and will be well worth all the efforts in the end.
