I refer to Detroit with much love in my heart when I call it the Dirty D. Mechanical Engineer by schooling, currently finance by profession and maker by p***ion. Have always like the idea of picking something up to wrench on. Have owned fast cars, new cars, fast new cars, but wanted something different. My father is an engineer for General Motors, and some of my earliest memories spending time with him are of fetching tools while he worked on something. Weather the daily drivers of the family, or one of the "family" cars. The first car my fathers family ever bought a 1915 Model T touring, the car my grandfather brought back from Europe after WWII, a 1942 Willies Jeep ***embled by Ford or my fathers first car a 1970 Cutl*** with the Hurst His & Her ******. No back to me..lol. I randomly scan Craigslist for whatever is a good deal or interesting. Well I found it a 1962 Chevy Corvair Monza 4dr Sedan. It has the 2spd powerglide and when I picked it up it ran, although it had been sitting for a couple of years since the P.O. lost interest in finishing his project. It had been stripped of all of the trim, body work done and sprayed Primer black, Brakes had been redone with all new lines and a master cylinder but were not working correctly. 4 Brand new tires to make it all nice too. Paid all of 175 for the car, less than s****. Plan on having it on the road for less than $500. Almost there, need to sort out headlights yet, cut the springs, and add a 3rd brake light.. here she is the day she came home and with some of the trim on.
Had a wheel Cylinder frozen, broke it trying to unstick it. New one one the way other than that and installing the headlights we are ready for the road, still want to cut the springs, but id rather have only one thing at a time to deal with...
