I am looking for pictures and ideas of how you mounted your rear licence plate. My Austin dosn't have bumpers so I will have to mount it underneath on the rear cross member.I will not put holes in the body.

Center it on the rear pan, make the mounting point at the rear crossmember under the body. One of the old school type with the light on top would work, paint it green like the machine...

Get a solenoid and build a hinged mount under the rear pan. Then just put a switch on it to activate the solenoid and pivot the plate down when driving. Then you can have it clean, and no plate when you're parked or off the street.
    BTW-The Austin looks fantastic!

Thanks 1971bb427,I thought about the fold ups but she sits really low and might not clear the ground.

Some where I saw a manual slide out flip up mount, but of course now I can't find it on the net.

Better check with your state DMV-sometimes there are height requirements.

If you set it up with a solenoid, be sure to use a continuous duty one since it will have to stay energized to keep the plate down.
