The pivot points on my hinges are worn out, and when I shut the hood the springs push the back the hood up about 1/2" above the cowel. I was thinking of drilling and reaming the holes out to the next bigger size and removing the pins then use shoulder bolts. Has anyone out there done this or is there a better way to get the slop out?

    Thanks Mike

How about opening the holes up for bronze bushings and then using shoulder bolts? At least then the bushings would wear and not the bolts, and rebuildable if needed. Hopefully you wouldnt need to open the hood that often to wear out the bushings!

Thanks droptop I will look into using bronze bushings, probably the one with shoulders.

either the bronze or you can reweld and drill them out. or weld in a hardened ring of some sort.
