Hey there guys, do any of you know whether anyone makes an alternator that looks like a generator? I seem to recall reading about one but that was a while ago..any help appreciated.

There have been some over the years. [IMG]

I bought this homemade one off of Ebay mostly because of the old chrome body. The commercial ones don't look right. I never used it. I've read a lot about the case inside the case causing them to overheat and not last long. I can't say for sure. What is wrong with a properly rebuilt generator? I've had a lot more trouble with alternators than generators. Of course I don't blame a used generator with untold miles as being a POS.

I agree with Tommy - I actually prefer generators. My 54 F100 has an alternator conversion...I'm in the process of putting a generator back on. ;)
