Rode up to Kansas City yesterday with a friend to take a piece of his surveying equipment for repair....... After dropping that off, we went in LMC Truck where he bought a few small items for his military blazer resto project. In case you're not familiar with them.....they have lots and lots of pickup items. http://www.lmctruck.com/ Later, on the way back to Joplin, we turned off at Peculiar, MO.....a few miles S of KC......where Pete and Jake's Hot Rod Parts is located. Right by Hwy 71 off/on ramp, easy to find. Next to their building is the Super Bell Axle shop. They guys who work there were very friendly and helpful......told us we could look around all we liked. As my old Plymouth is pretty much stock, as well as not a Ford or Chevy, I didn't find anything to purchase. Just want to p*** on how nice they were and add some pics from their front showroom area. "The California Kid"
Real deal. I popped in there 2 weeks ago, on my trip to St Joseph. If I can get the bugs worked out by then, I am planning on driving the '40 Stake Truck up to their open house, May 12.
Both cars pictured are the real deal...the yellow car was Jim Jacob's, and the other was Pete Chaporis'. They do have another clone of the black flamed car, and I believe it has a big block Chevy for power.
Pete and Jakes Open House is coming up around beggining of May! Good Time. Check out there website for details.....
I stopped in about a month ago. It had been a very long time since I was treated like that. Great experiance! Walter
Not a clone, but a "tribute". http://www.streetrodderweb.com/features/0912sr_1932_ford_highboy_sedan/viewall.html Pretty cool tribute, but I am looking forward to seeing the new "real" Eastwood Barakat sedan.
BTW...Jason & Jerry are two of the nicest guys you will ever want to meet. The very first time I met Jerry, I was just out of college and didn't have my '40 going, and he asked me if I wanted to see "The Kid", that it was in the shop getting cleaned up. I was absolutely beside myself! I pop in on Jason periodically, when I am jamming up Hwy 71, and he's always a very gracious guy, even though I am taking up his time by dropping in unexpectedly on him. Looking forward to making it up to their open house for my first time. The actual date of the Open House is May 12, 2012.
I've stopped in there several times and was always welcomed and they took the the time to answer questions and made suggestions for my projects. Great guys.
Stopped by last summer while on a bike trip. First cl***. Got a tour of both shops. Recommended to all. We headed to Speedway Motors after Pete & Jake and to Cornhuskers. It was all good.
After reading about T.C.I. on hamb I am going to buy a pete and jakes 30 Model A rolling ch***is. I bought one from T.C.I back in 1993 and also had problems. Besides Pete and Jakes is only 75 miles from my home. I want to deal with nice guys face to face it makes things so much better.
Great guys. Had them build my original ch***is from my 32 sedan and bought a P&J's ch***is for my 32 rpu. Everything from them is first cl***. They always have time for you when you stop in the shop. Again great folks, great products and great service.
