bet that got a few raised eyebrows......

anyway. I have a 60 starliner with stock cruise-o-matic trans, Missing a dipstick. tube is there just no dipstick,
Can someone with the same transmission please remove theirs and measure the distance from the overcap or dipstick stop at the top to the end of the dipstick and maybe include the measurements to the add and full marks? I cannot find anything aftermarket so I will be modifying something to work, but need the measurements or risk a empty or over full trans.

    thanks

Do you know how much oil it takes ??

If you do. Add the correct amount, let it settle. Put the dip stick in. Pull it out and mark where the oil is. That = Full. Make another mark about 1/2" down and another 1/4" under that. Those = low and oh ****.

    Hope that helps

Thank You, that is all I really need, thru some reading and a little history on the cars, The 60 Mercury will have the correct measurements. Thank you again,

It's important to always wipe the dipstick off before measuring. Otherwise, the yardstick gets all messy and it's difficult to obtain accurate readings.
