I need help with Bonneville plans, I am from Philadelphia and I dont have a clue!!! For those of you that have been to the Holy Grail I need your advice, please.
I know that it is somewhere near Wendover but when I started searching for rooms to reserve, it only came up for Salt Lake City.
I looked at a map to get an idea of where the salt flats are, no information came up. I found Great Salt Lake Desert, Wendover Air force range, Dugway proving grounds ,etc. I saw route 93 and route 80 the rest was blank.
My plans are to fly into Vegas to meet up with my son, from there we drive to Bonneville. I plan to stay from Aug.10 to the 17th. or whatever is best.
Do I need to buy tickets or p***es in advance to be a spectator?
Where is the best area to stay ? Are there hotels in Wendover? Do people camp out on the salt? Help, Help, Help!!! Please. Thank you in advance

You don't need to buy tickets to enter. West Wendover, on the Nevada side & Wendover on the Utah side are where all the rooms are. Most places are requiring a 30 day cancellation policy ( and are all booked now) so your best chance is to wait til 30 days and start calling around. The Nugget is the hub of the action. Some of the greedier *******s are requiring 5 day, no refund, all paid upfront packages.
You can camp on the Bend in the road, an area about 5 miles from the course.
You will need sun screen and transportation. Everything on the Salt is 5 miles apart.
5 miles to the gate, 5 miles to the pits, 10 miles back to the starting line.....
It was on my bucket list and I went 2 years, but have to miss this year as my wife insisted I be home for my 70th birthday. I WILL be there next year.
The biggest problem is the Salt is more addictive than Crack. All the people involved are super friendly. Best of luck and I'll probably see you next year.

Use the search ****on for Bonneville, Bend in the road, Camping at the salt flats or anything you can imagine.

You will get more advise than you can read.

Rooms are very expensive and hard to find at this late date. Some free up after the first weekend.
