How sharp of a bend can a speedometer cable handle? Would a 5" radius be acceptable? Actually have four bends, doesn't feel like too much drag at the trans gear..
I broke a cable trying to run a similar radius. It worked for a while, but you could hear it rubbing the jacket if you listened closely and the needle had a bounce at low speeds. Eventually, it twisted off the end. I rerouted to reduce the bend, but am considering a right angle fitting... but they are pricey for what they are.
Let the cable d**** into the largest radius curves you can. Basically let it go where it wants, do not force it into position any more than you have to. It will work better and last longer. Instead of 4 bends try to get one big curve.
Ive had cables wear out quickly from radiuses like that. Use angle adaptors if needed, beats a speeding ticket.
I would say 5 " is your MIN radius BUT only if your running it at 90deg or less. any turn over 90deg then I think your pushing your luck. I have never seen something like that cause any problems other then a jumpy speedo needle, Noisy cable or broken cable end.
Thanks guys..not what I wanted to hear but while I have the steering column out, and the front seat out...............
