It is with heavy hearts that the Cl***ic Nights CC has decided to end a 29 year ins***ution in the Town of Monroe, CT. Due to the economic conditions, lack of sponsorship, the cost of insurance, and other cruise season expenses, we have come to the decision to terminate the Friday Night Cruise season on May 10, 2013. Following that date our insurance will expire and we have no funds to continue or support this weekly event. Our sincere Thank You to all the cruisers who have supported us for so long, and to the local businesses and individuals for your help these past 29 years. If anyone has ideas for a new location with sponsorship, you may contact us at http://www.cl***icnights.com
Wow!!! this is some crazy news. hope you guys find a way to keep some kind of show going, no matter where it is. good luck!
no ****! that was a nice little cruise night you guys put on, laid back atmosphere and a little something for everyone. thanks for years of dedication to the hobby.
We have been trying since the end of last year to save the cruise but no luck. Thanks for the wishes.
Wow Pete, it's hard to believe that it all started at Ligouri's almost 30 years ago! A lot of Oldies and chrome, many faces and cars, and our children now have children! It's a shame that the economy has killed another car event in CT. Still a few good cruises left in your area, enjoy them! KK
So sorry to hear that Pete. Like Kevin said, some of us started way back at Bill`s in the early days when our kids were little and still holdin our hands. Many good memories with some old friends no longer with us in cars that have since gone down the road. Except a certain 57 Pontiac. Hope you guys find another spot!
I bet people keep showin up though... Sounds like a tradition almost, or even a right of p***age, cruising with pops, then cruising with your child callin you pops....
We are trying our best to keep the cruise going at Village Square or somewheres else. Like someone said it is like a job to us. Well we got laid off. lol We are just trying to p*** the word aound to everyone. Yesterday I went to Heavenly Donuts to giev out flyers but it was an unoffical cruise. Tomorrow it will be Split Rock. Thank you for the luck
It seems like it was just yeaterday we started. Tony and I are the only original members left. We don't have the sponsorship like we use to. We plan to visit alot of the cruises we haven't been to. Hope all is well with you and the family.
You are right Paul about alot of good memories. Clubs like the Watertown Kustoms came down to cruise with us. There are a lot of cruisers who are now cruising up in the big cruise in the sky I still have my two cars in the garage. Hoping to get them out this year to cruise again to some of the CT cruises.
No doubt there will be cruisers showing up, but they could get a ticke for loitering. When we have rain outs for the cruises and it clears up. Cars still show up. Yes our cruise is a tradition. My kids are in the late 30's and 40's and they still remember when they cruised with me and their mother. When I go, my oldest will get my 65 GTO which was my dads.
Heard at the cruise last night some funds were raised and the show will go on for now. Shouldn't be too hard to get a fin at the door for a fund raiser night???
As it looks now the cruise has been saved for this year. We want to thank the spectators and the cruisers for their generosity to save our cruise. We could not believe the outpouring of help that we received. At the eleventh hour we also received some funds from local businesses.
Thanks Kevin We are surprised at the out pouring of donations from the cruisers that want the cruise to continue. We now see how much people enjoy our cruise. 'Pete
glad to hear you saved it. I was surprised that more people didn't show up for what could have been the last one. i guess if there were trophy's more guys would have been there. I think i saw some of the vette guys making out wills.
I also thought there would be more people. But between the weather (chance of rain) and some went to the cruise in Westport we had a low attendance. Yes if we had trophies there would be more. The vette guys were in a real panic with the chance we were closing down. No where to go on their Friday nights. My neighbor is one of them. I really like the El Camino.
