I have posted in (hi-jacked) other threads. so here is whats going on with it. I have been into Oldsmobiles all my life. This is not my first or only Olds. This 65 was a somebody's high school project that they got in over their head. So picked up what was left of it. All I got was the outer shell, doors, trunk, and front fenders. I traded a core 454 for it. This will be Olds powered. My wife and daughters are into it,and are helping. I had to cut the floor out from firewall to tail lights. There was no frame,so I am using a S-10 frame. This will be straight axle nose high, tilt front end, fenderwell headers. well here are some pics. I have done more, I will have to get the latest pics today. I havent done anything with the suspension yet. But do have front axle and springs lined up for it. thanks for looking
Always liked that body style.Good luck.Lotta work.Keeping Olds engine is the right thing. What are you using for front axle?
1 option is speedway and 2nd op. is a buddy has one from a 46 or so Chevy truck. my Oldsmobiles will always be Olds powered. the reason I had the 454 to trade is ,it came out of my 1ton crew cab dually, because I put a 350 Olds in it it.
some new pics, and Ray C's son, the wheel openings came from J.C. Whitney they where in their return pile. Got them both for $30. I am only about 25 min. from them. found out later what they are for. They are for Jeeps CJ-5 /7 ?.
no pics. of just that, but very simple set up. if you look at the 8th picture you can see most of it and in one of the last pics you can see the cross bar. A buddy of mine has a '64 that has the stock rad support, so all I did is measure from where the fenders bolt on to it and made a cross bar w/plates on each end that bolt to the fenders in the stock location. Then bolted the fenders to the body, put the cross bar on,measured down from it to the top of the frame. I made 4 round steel bushings, two per side. One welds to frame other welds to the down legs. And use a 3/4" pin to slide in them. ( clear as mud? ) you will have subtract the dia. of the bushing from the down leg. thanks for looking.......
I have a few different ( Olds) engines I can use, Only way to go is Olds for me. One is a '67 400 solid lifter engine w/ 12.5-1 comp.
