Ahhhh yes. Summer hours!
Mel's is still there? Wow, it's been many many years since I have p***ed thru that door way. Breakfast was alway's on, whether it was in the morning before going to work or early morning after last call with whatever fluff you might have found at the local watering hole. Many good times had there or closeby (whats the name of that little bar next to that motel with the white pillars? I think it was at 15th ave?

 

Aaarrrgggghhhh. Both are gone now! I can see them in my brain, but I can't put names to them.

 

As much money & time as I had spent there, wouldn't think I'd ever forget those names. I can picture myself walking through the door and sitting at the bar but...
There was semi parking back behind the place and R & R Cycle was across Grand.
Damn... I hate getting old.

 

Ha Wait! You were drinking at the Bikini! R&R was on the same side of the street as the bar. The Bikini has been cleaned up a bit, but still retains allot of it's rough and tumble charm. Just lots less homeless guys to drink with!

I was visiting a friend in the 80's during the summer, and we were on bikes.
Couldnt get enough iced tea.
As for North West, My daughter said she didnt like it. She couldnt see the mountains. She's a South West girl all the way. No trees to getin the way of the view.

 

No, I remember R & R was on the n.w. corner and seem to recall a bar there. R & R's entrance was on 15th. The bar I'm thinking of was a western bar (70's & 80's) and it was on the s.w. corner. The entrance was right next to the motel office. Behind the motel was a vacant lot where we parked our trucks.

 

I think thre is a little confusion going on here... R&R (coolest sign ever!!) was on the pointy corner of Grand and in the same structure (I think they're connected?!), facing Grand or due S.W., is the BIKINI. The bar you're talking about.... does it then face NE (looking at the BIKINI)?

This looks cool i am going to try and be there, i got some stuff to clear out the garage to might be able to kill two birds.

Damn! That was COLD this morning!!! I usually hang out 'till the bitter end but it was just too much for me this time. Funny thing, I'm standing in a cirlce with a couple other guys talking and suddenly I'm being hugged by a bear... Or so it seemed! I forgot my buddy Ronnie Olmstead has a double *****in' vintage ra**** coat from the twenties - floor length on him, It'd be about knee length on anybody of more normal stature! Sometimes I wish I always kept my camera at the ready.

 

Snapped a few pictures before everything started shutting down today had a couple photo opportunities to get the guy in the FLUFFY coat but never took em.
My first time at so-cal speedshop, I will be dropping alot of money in there very soon! Also got some really cool pictures of my truck taken when everyone left and i had the whole parking lot to myself

It's the second Saturday tomorrow, time for another So-Cal Speedshop get together. I reckon I'll hit the So-Cal gig and participate in the save Speedworld rally later.

People should bring cool C10 stuff, and sell it to me for cheap.

 

Not sure I'll make it out to this one....Bodi(!), could you bring out a sticker or two? If you don't see me, maybe p*** 'em off to C-Hip?

 

Done deal. I'll throw them in the glove box when I get back to The Favela.

 

I wanna see pictures of the stuff for sale. Does not look like much stuff out on the ground to me. If I'm gonna drive to Phoenix I wanna buy some cool stuff. Vintage hard to find parts. Your mission is too photograph the goods. Please report back with the evidence.

 

Don't know about drivin up here just for the swap, more of a get-together with some parts layin around. But, it's a great place to meet some of the hidden Az hot rod community.

 

So-Cal second Saturday swap/get together is happening once again tommorow. I reckon I'll see some of you goons out there in the cold.
