I'm building a '34 pickup from a pile of parts. much of the pile is '31 model A. The headlite bar from the A seems to fit except for the angle where it bolts to the fenders.........this is slight enough that a slot to stretch it a few degrees and welded up seems to correct the problem;has anyone done that?????????I have a '32 cab that bolts down 2 inches to the rear of where it should be;is the '32 floor that different? are there any oem power window regulators that adapt easily? Whats the best way to install electric wipers?and a source?
I'd save my money on those items and use them on your late model. Cab placement due to holes being off.?? You should be more concerned about engine, pedal and steering placement. And move the cab to that needed area. Hole alignments are just a drill and torch distance away. Heres my new 34 project...california truck. with a whole shitload of extra parts.
I don't have a lot of experience so I used Jeep Cherokee units. It was real easy to straighten them so they'd run flat windows. For wipers I used a British Leyland setup. I had to extend the cable drive a bit because I mounted the motor on the driver's kickpanel and the wipers are above the windshield. The same type units were used on Jaguars, MGs, Triumphs, Sprites and Minis.
Any hot rod Speed shop should have the chrome electric wiper motor that simply bolts into the header panel above the W/S frame where the vac motor was. Be sure to get the one that self parks. Many of the late model cars use a track style window regulator that is easily adapted.(check the mini-vans) I adapted the old style electric gear driven arm regulaor for my first 34 P/U...one small problem...the arm didn't have enough throw to lower the window all the way!!! DOH!!! I guess I should have chopped the top. If you are not using the original frame and fender brackets, the headlight bar will have to be modified somehow to work. The parts you are using will determine how that is done. Same goes for the cab mount bolt holes.
