I'm going out to the track mid afternoon into the evening just to hang out.

The following was posted on FB from the Detroit Dragway page.

We are sure that anyone who follows drag racing knows by now that the Atlanta NHRA race has been rescheduled till the weekend of May 11th. What that means to the Detroit Dragway Reunion is that Connie Kalitta will not be able to attend the reunion. Connie would never let down drag racing fans, however when he commited himself to our event this weekend was available for him. To Connie Kalitta, have a great race weekend in Atlanta and know that we support you.

I was thinking something similar, many of my fellow hoodlums from the "Dirty D" will be there camping for the races on Sat. Also heard of a couple grudge matches set up between a few of em. Should be a good excuse to make a "test drive". Film @ 11:00...

Talked to Wally Knochs today and he will bring his Puffer out for us to see! Thanks Wally.

In the late 1950s, Walt Knoch raced one of the hottest A/Altereds-"Walt's Puffer II." It was the marriage of a Chrysler Hemi and a Fiat Topolino body. At that time, Hemi engines were the gold standard for drag racing power, and the sleek Fiat Topolino bodies were light and streamlined, perfect for drag racing

Alrighty... If I come, with the family (2 adults/2 kids) as a spectator and decide to camp there for the weekend, how much is it?

I'm confused if the camping is for show/race vehicles only or what?

I'm really hoping this weather holds out. Any changes to the show from it?

Weather was nice with a little breeze today. should be good tomorrow as well. Went to the track and got it alllll mapped out. Show cars can park right up next to the grandstands, we got the stage set up and the vendor spots laid out.

see ya'll in the morning!! :D

Had fun at the track. Watching that Willys hit both walls at about 150 mph was unreal...now I remember why I switched to kustoms. Some of the cars from the show made a p*** and if the driver of the black roadster is on here you are a ruler! Nice mid 11 second p*** and it looked a little hairy on the top end. And you stayed in it

    The show was cool!
But I had a problem with trying to get from the pit side over to the Billetproof show we got there early and walked in pit side and after watch drag races for a while I thought there would be a cross over gate but we had to go all of the way back out and back to the other gate. my father in law has a hard time walking so he did not go into the billetproof show he waited in the car for me , I would of liked to see a easier way to get from spectator side to the pits. And I only saw a few swap vendors on spectator side where the show in Riverside park had more maybe it was the weather that held them off I just think a show like this would have alot of swap spaces
I really did like the show :D

Damn! Camping was in the southern parking lot? I got there early Fri. Afternoon, and "Justin" from the timing tower told us to camp in the spectator lot to the west of the track! We were the only campers! Oh, well. It was quiet, though. Had a great (but chilly) time.

  26. The cross-over was at the staging lanes. You had to walk across the staging lanes where the cars made the turn to go down the track.

I feel for Gorden......that was/is a beautiful car. I was glad to see him get out unhurt. It truley is a gamble out there and when its good, its great but its a game of chance. Dosent stop a real gearhed from gettin his fix

  29. WOW! I didn't realize it was Gordon that crashed;glad he's OK. The last time I saw him he had an old Plymouth coupe painted purple with a monster Hemi in it.Wasn't aware he was campaigning a car.
