OK, I think Ive finally calm down enough to post. All I can say is I am hooked brother! This weekend was off the chart for me. Ive still got the grin on my face! This was the first time for me to take my 23 down the track and I was really pleased. Thanks to the kontinentals Ive reached another goal in my life of actually goin balls out down a dragstrip. I cant thank you guys enough for givin me and others this once a year opportunity that we probably would otherwise never get. Oh yea, my best time, 13.7 at 95.2 MPH! Im framing my time slip with my poster! What did yall run?

Don't mean to stick my nose in your Texas thread, but...

Dirty. What did you run at the HAMB Drags?? Reason I'm askin is my car is more than a half a second slower in Joplin than it is at my home track. Tryin to figure out if it's the elevation at Mo-Kan or just my car...

    Thanks, -Abone.

Ryan said he ran half a second faster at Mokan.

BoomBoom, I didn't realize you were going that quick. I bet that thing is a handful. What kind of 60ft. times were you running?

    I ran 13.69 @101. My best mph was 102.

Wow Buzz! You were flyin! Last time I talked to ya saturday you still hadnt broken 100. My time slip says 2.0344 at 60 ft, 5.6435 at 330, My reaction time was terrible, .9246. I think I could of got a few more MPH out of it but I dont know if I could hit the illusive 100 mark with out a few mods. The car handeled really well at thay speed. The only thing was the front end went crazy the first time I tried to make the first turn off at the end of the track. I got off the brakes and it settled down. I used the second turn off the rest of the day! Congrats on the patch! Anybody know what krupa was runnin?

The raggedy roadster ran 12.8 @ 104. I thought the slip said 103 but got it under good light tonight. The white copies ****ed. I'm learning how to run off lights & my car. Ran 13.3 @ 109 @ MOKAN. Was tossing belts there, just made 5 runs, broke my lower steering column mount yesterday after 4 runs so only made a few time trials @ both, no real racing. My reaction times @ MOKAN were .5 something, yesterday on the 12.8 run my reaction time was 1.415, guess I was waiting for cross traffic to clear after the light turned green!! Kept trying to leave on the first yellow, I need a lot of practice.

But what a hoot, man that was fun!! Last time I raced on a track prior to MOKAN was Little River in 1965.

  8. Hahahaha..., So they had to measure your reaction times with a calender...!!! :D

Hope you felt "Rested" after such a long nap...!!!

I talked to krupanut while he was at the drags and he was "Whoopin and Hollerin" about the whole event and mentioned that he was running 14's while spinning one Cheater slick the whole time.

I guess it doesn't matter because there definitly was a huge "Grinn Factor" just being there...!

Hey Ed, you looked like you were having a ball!
I was wondering how you didn't have bugs in your teeth, your grin was huge!

I think you guys had left already, but Kenny got one of those patches too!
His best time was 13.63 I think and he had a 100 mph p*** or two.

He was running low 14's until he took his air cleaner off, it is only like 2 inches tall and dirty as hell. I didn't think it would shave a half of a second though.

    Keven

    (see you at the skatepark!!!)

  10. I had a ball...but my car is a lot slower than I expected. Best time was a 15.48 and best speed was 91mph.

Wingnutz...Right on about the Grin factor! We stoped to eat in waco on the way home and I went to the rest room to wash my hands and when i looked in the mirror I had grease in the shape of goggles on my face and started grinnin all over again, and yea, I didnt wash it off!

Kevin....Congrats to Kenny on the patch, We need to talk about gettin the 23 to the 100mph mark.

The previous two years my coupe ran consistent 16.37 runs at 78 mph but topped out well before the flag - this year I had the taller rear tires so was hoping to break 80 mph. Made one p*** (against Outlaw) and stripped my throttle linkage - 17.16 at 73 mph. After that, it was all beer and BS.

Jason let me make a p*** on the Rat Bike. That ****er wants to pull hard but wasn't quite running right by the time I got on it, fouled plugs and maybe an intake leak. After a few parking lot blasts I heeded his and the bike's warnings, launched gingerly and watched that little sporty dust my ***. The bike sputtered and weezed and I never could get on it all the way and let off before I hit the timing lights but I just pulled my slip out of my jacket pocket and was surprised to see a 13.8 at a whopping 74 mph:eek: ! All with my cowardly .869 reaction time. That bike is gonna be dirty fast. Thanks Jason!

My mph and ets went wayyy down at Temple. My best p*** was a 13.6 at 103 or 4... And my first 3 p***es were in the 14s... I had a pretty hard time figuring out how not too spin so hard off the line and into 2nd and 3rd.

My best time at mokan is a 12.96. The only changes since then were tires (new hurst cheaters - thanks again fellas!) and plugs...

All that said, it looks as though I lost my clutch this weekend and all that "spinning" might have been the bad kind...

Hank can't wait to see the photos from the Drags........We ran a best time of 15.88 at 84.60 mile per hour in that ol' black sled. Man is that addictive!

Congratulations Buzzard on your 100 mile an hour patch! Can't wait to see the tattoo of the patch on your sleeve! Great job Crushproof on helping Buzzard achieve his goal!

Big congrats to my old buddy buzzard on 100mph!

I ran my usual mid 14s at around 94. The same as the past four years.

I tell though I'm ready to figure out how to get to the century mark.
I know the car can do it.
It pulls had to about 3500 rpm and then falls flat.

    Running out of Gas?
    Floating the Points?

Inquiring mind want to know.

    Had a blast!!!

The best quote of the weekend:

I was taking a brake sitting in the stands eating when that 90-something firebird snuck in a p***.
He p*** us all quiet, you could hear the tires on the track, no smoke, no noise, no style.
    He ran a high 12.
This guy looks up at the timing board and says "wow! That’s a fast car!"

Then this old dude in the stands adds, “Yeah but it just looks like traffic
    !"

Im right there with ya on gettin to the Century mark Krupa! Let me know when ya get it figured out. I think it would have helped me a little if I didnt have to run through the water. Everytime I tried to do a burn out the car would get sideways and the stagin guys eyes would get real big! Like you said, It was a BLAST!!!

Kraupanut. Sounds like you need to change valve springs. It will add a bout 1000 rpm instantly. You would be suprised on how a new set of springs, a new timing chain, and a sharp tune will get you back on the accelleration gig.:DSparky

    Hankcash,
Next year, buddy.....you and me, mano a mano.

The only patch I got was the one they gave for showing up. The "semi-Hemi" modified made consistent p***es of around 19.1 all day -- until the second round of eliminations. Then I made a smokin' p*** of 18.96 @ 66+, against a dial-in of 19.0, and allowed Fat Lucky to advance to the next round.

But it would be hard for anyone to score higher on the fun-meter than I did. That place and the whole event leaves me grinnin' for months afterward. But after several years of being the only banger guy, I'm feelin' the need for more speed. I just wanna go fast enough to be a reliable set of taillights for the Buzzard!
