The one in my '58 is from an early 70's Caddy. If you are looking for brand new I think Flaming River makes one specifically for '55-'59 Chevrolet and GMC trucks.

There are several, it's all about how much you want to spend or how creative you are. Since I'm not as creative as many of the guys here, I would opt for an aftermarket one such as:

http://ididitinc.com/ or http://www.flamingriver.com/ from there it goes down hill, you might try

I'd reccomend from personal experience to stay away from ebay look alikes, you may or may not (such as I did) get a good one.

    Good Luck!

You want cheap, easy, and findable?? Get a 67-72 column and put the key back on the dash, we just put one in a '58 apache with a camaro clip, needed one steering joint and that was it. Length was perfect and it fit in the stock column drop!

Used a 1"DD to 3/4"DD joint up top

And a 1"DD to 13/36 36 spline at the bottom and ditched the rag joint..

Went with a 14-26" collapsible shaft for safety and I'll be damned, everything fit perfect. Had to drill dimples in the shafts for the set screws to grab onto but otherwise easy. Had the wife sit in the truck and turn from lock to lock and all was nice and smooth.

Thanks meddler... We did this and used an American Autowire kit that just connected so easily!!! Stock camaro lower steering shaft and rag joint and then we bought the correct steering joint to attach the column to the camaro shaft!! Worked great!
