Finally got a few photo's processed and posted. I'm new at posting threads, so let me know what you're thinking. I hope I can handle it.

how about the pictures without all the fancy photoshoping. (to see the actual car)

  3. Photo shopping is cool for what it is, but hot rods and customs don't need it to enhance their artistic value.

Thanks Boones, I'll work on a little less detail. Checked out your website, great snapshots, thanks for sharing.

No photoshopping, it's HDR shooting/processing, merging three exposures to bring out the detail that is normally lost in normal pictures. Some like the process, some don't. I appreciate
the feedback and I'll see about providing a better mix of both.

Have to agree; the HDR gets a bit over-done.......

  8. I thought I was the only one who felt this way, now I don't feel as odd !!

HDR can be done without looking so over processed, just be a lot more subtle with the enhancements from the 3 photots and the overall picture will have great detail without the harshness.

When I do HDR's, people cannot tell they are an HDR, but they also can not understand how the photo has so much detail.

    Just my opinion! :D

I agree with the over processing. When processing, I consider several things, the car, color scheme, background, people in the shot, etc and either choose a preset that brings back or enhances the detail I like or I process myself to best illustrate all the hard work that went into build. With that said, I do tend to push it a bit much because that's my taste, however, I want to give the viewers the right mix, that's why everyone's feedback is important.
    Thank you

The KISS method works with photos just like it does with building hot rods! HRP

Interesting pics, maybe a little overdone, but I gotta ask. Are you really short? These are all from the same perspective. Need to mix up your elevations.

No legs, I shoot from a creeper, not really. I really don't like shooting straight on shots or high perspectives unless I'm shooting from an elevated standpoint, but I do know what you mean and I'll keep that in mind on my next shoot. Thanks for your feedback.

I like traditional pictures with detail shots of engines, suspension details, and interiors.

How come you guys that use all the latest photography fads, trends, and perspectives don't seem to understand much about hot rods and what makes some of them stand out from the rest?

I want to see what makes each Hot rod unique, not what makes each photographer unique.

Nukeman, thanks for your feedback. With large shows that style of shooting is somewhat difficult due to how close cars are parked together. Another reason why it seems my perspective doesn't seem to change much. I try to shoot the artistic side of the builds rather than all the ingredients put into it, but I'll keep all that in mind in my future shoots and posts. Thanks tons for the help.

BS, thanks for explaining how it is done (I was not aware, thought it was photoshopping). I do appreciate your willingness to share your pictures. I know the time it takes...
thanks for receiving the feedback without assuming it was an attack. (it was not meant to be)

  25. Okay, no matter how hard I stare at it I still can't see the unicorn :D

  26. i aggree with the "enhanced pics" comments i prefer to shoot low angle front shots but my knees dont like too much bending and crouching anymore a good verity of angles and views are allways good to keep the viewer interested

great shots though thanks for posting

57 Ford, I've got 2 new knees. I can get down, but need a strong bumper to get up. That's why I shoot with a Canon 60d with a vari view screen on a tripod. Saves the need to ask for help getting up.
    Thanks for your comments.
