Alternate hubs that will fit on a 49-51 shoebox for spindle.

  1. I know there are plenty of disk break kits for Shoeboxes out there, they incorporate a hub and bearing as opposed to a slip over disk style.
    What disk/hub is used?
Is the bearing size and spacing same as 37-48 (forget backing plates)

Here is a part speedway are selling, is it correct? itts a gm part but its drilled to ford pattern and sits on a 37-48 spindle.

That kit uses 74 Chevy Camaro rotor (as well as many other years and body styles). It says 73-77 GM, but a 74 Nova and a 74 Camaro are not one and the same.

Most kits use that rotor for the 4.75" bolt pattern or the Volarie rotor for the 4.5" bolt pattern. The rotors are NOT just "bolt one and go" fitment, they typically use a bearing spacer/adapter for the inner bearing to fit the spindle.

  3. I've since compared the stub axle on my hotrod to my 51 and noticed how the 51 stub is much shorter. So I believe that hub would be impossible to adapt onto the 51. I don't mind making spacers or sleeves but I would like to know what disk and hub is the best start off point. Who has successfully adapted a disk to their shoebox?
