I just put the 3" blocks under the rear of my Falcon and bought new Monroe air shocks. When I reassembled everything, the shocks were at a weird angle to the original lower shock mounts. The mounts appeared to be angled down too far. Has any of you added air shocks to an early bird and had this problem, if so , what is the fix for it? Need to work this out quickly so I can move on to lowering the from. All feedback welcome, pm me if you choose, thanks.
I have the same set up on a same year Comet and had no problems.. Some pics of your situation would help.
The lower shock mounts go to the U-bolt plates. Lowering blocks would have no bearing on the locations, either upper or lower. The shocks should be in the exact same position as stock. Some pics of your perceived problem would help.
Mashed your right about the mounting location of the shocks on this rear end, but sometimes things get misaligned or bent or whatever. Here's a pic that may help 50_coupe.
You should never run air shocks on the rear of Falcons or Mustangs because the upper shock mounts are the sheet metal floor. They weren't designed to carry the weight of the car. We have them come in all the time with the upper mounts cracked from air shocks or helper shocks. We even had them come in with air shocks blown through.
I agree with your reply 100%. I even went back and tried to put the old original shocks back on and they too were misaligned. The bottom plates are not turned around or switched side to side. Will post pics in the morning, thanks.
