Difference 42-48 spindle vs 49-53 spindle

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chopshop13, May 4, 2013.

  1. im interested in the shaft dia inside and outside, bearing spacing, offset from backing plate and dust seal dia.

Not concerned about king pin angle or diameter.

    Any takers?

  2. I want to put disks on my shoebox and I'm trying to find the best disk and hub to start with and I'm happy to turn up spaces and sleeves.

It's kinda like comparing apple and oranges, they are two entirely different things. I think some of the shoe box guys might come along in a bit and give you some ideas, but I'll bet if you did a search you'd probably find the info a bit quicker. I believe there is a shoebox social group too that would have info for you.

  4. Thanks louvers, but I've spent many many hours searching and there isn't really any info on what comprises the many disk kits that are available. I cannot go to a wrecking yard and hunt, I'm from New Zealand so I'm looking for first hand advise based on experience.

The pre 49 spindles were for the old transverse straight axle. 1949-53 was the first generation IFS, I would think these will not interchange without great difficulty.

  6. Thanks guys I can work with that.
