I ran across a ducoil v12 cap the other day, its in the original box and part number is wh53, cant remember ever seeing a ducoil v12 for anything, can anyone think of any? all the lincolns v12s had a front distributor, could a guy put a 8ba front on a v12 and then run a flathead ducoil with this cap on it? and i did try it on one of my other ducoil dist and it fits fine. jeff
Could be from a six. '30s/'40s Nash OHV sixes had a dual coil distributor and two spark plugs per cylinder, and others may have as well.
i also have a dual coil 16 plug cap which i new was nash 8 cap with twin plugs, didnt know they had a 6 with dual plugs too. jeff
the 12 wire cap has no numbering on it for wire orientation, the 16 wire cap does which i figured was a nash cap. the nash cap i have is totally different design from the wh cap i have, plus the wh cap has a wh number thats why i fgured it may be aftermarket cap.
Packard, Cadillac ?, I have an 8cyl cap and dist w/dual coils set up for a V8- 60 and a whole box of spare parts, would like to know what it came of off, its Delco, but thats all I know, going to machine the adapter that's on it to fit V8-85, 60 slightly larger on the mount!,
There were plenty of dual coil V-12's long ago. Even the big series Lincoln used conventional type distributor caps, unlike the more familiar H series. Whatever it proves to be it's worth a lot to somebody out there!
found an application for the dist cap, i was looking thru an old newhouse speed equipment catolog, chev and gmc 6 cylinder, looks like they put plugs in the holes not being used. jeff
I was told by an old timer once that the original V8 DuCoil caps are actually off of "American La France" 4 cylinder engines that also ran 2 plugs per cylinder. I guess Fire Trucks in the mid 30s ran those engines. -Andy
