four months ago, i knew jack about cars, generally. i was hooked up with a pretty good deal, i know this now, on a pair of chevy's, and i decided id give it my best shot. im not trying to brag, tho i love to, but i am pretty excited to say that i drove what i built myself (with a lot of help from several friends) this weekend...and it runs pretty good. im going to try to post a photo, and if it turns out too small or lame...then...so be it...but im stoked...so here you all go. thanks also whove answered questions for me on here the last few months.
That is perty much as cool as life gets. I dig the car, and I know the feeling. Congrats on your new life long addiction.
Yeah !!! Nice work!!! Nothing like the first drive in something done with your own hands ... Congrats!
Great work!! Ah, the satisfaction of doing it yourself AND having it work!! BTW,dig the exhaust dumps right before the rear tire(s)... What engine/trans is that?
Nice job. I like it alot. Here is the question you are going to here alot. "What color is it going to be?" I like it with the patina personaly. Once again great job!
Great start cant wait to see what you will be doing in a couple of years under your belt, looks good.
now you know the feeling that all the gold chainers forgot about years ago. good job, and keep it up.
FNA!!! now that's how it should be, nice job man! ahhhh, that first drive....i know the feeling well!!!! CONGRATS!!!!
wow...seeing all the responses made my day...thanks all. by the way it is a 216 we pulled out of a 51, three speed. i topped out at about 45 mph yesterday...ignition timing, vac advance, and valves need some adjusting, carb seriously could use some work...ive got the original 235 from it, not sure what from, but it's binding up after almost one full revolution of the crank...clink clink, wont turn any further. we'll see, but id like to build that up this winter. the 216 has been lovingly, politely, named the "tower of power"...heh heh... future plans....i dunno, i just got it running, which was goal number one...now i figure, at least somewhat, it will become what it decides to become...or rather, you know, time will tell. anyway, thanks again.
Nice job, I bet your teeth were dry from grinnin the whole time you were crusin down the road with your arm out the window... Livin' the dream.... Build it, drive it, dig it and do it again....life don't get much better. Brag all you want you did it congrats
Congratulations! You got yours running a lot faster than I did. Out of curiosity, are you missing the hood or did you just take it off while you were working?
Great looking car. Keep having fun with it. You don't by change have a spare 53 grill you want to sell, do you?
THANKS ALL...THE HOOD: I JUST HAVENT BRAVED THE HOOD SPRINGS YET...besides, i like being able to show off the pabst label i rtv-ed to the firewall.. ill get the hood on soon. and no hellfish i dont have a spare grill, but ive got quite a few parts in general......which i wont mention here for fear of someone e-beating the crap out of me for trying to sell in the wrong place!
