One of the all-time great car destinations, the Indianapolis Hall of Fame Museum. Story and a ton of photos: A Visit to the Indianapolis Hall of Fame Museum | Mac's Motor City Garage.com
What a great place!!! It's been a long time since I been there! Maybe it's time to take my son!!!! Great post!
How true, they keep things fresh by adding and moving things around. I was in a guys house the other day doing some work. Noticed he had some really nice pictures hanging in his family room. After we settled up on the bill I could tell he was a real nice guy. I commented on all the neat Indy related pictures. He said every so often they have a auction at the museum to get rid of items they don't use anymore. I thought that was pretty cool. A few months ago I was working at a condo in town and in the garage was a large picture of a old Indy car. This picture was well done and framed roughly 4' - 4'. I told the older lady that picture was really a nice picture. She said her dad recently past away and that was his car he raced in the 500. She said she didn't have a place for it in the house but she just couldn't bring herself to get rid of it. So she hung it in the garage. We talked a bit about Indy and she said her dad loved to race but it got to the point were the private person couldn't afford to be conceptive and her dad got out of racing. I did get a picture on my phone with her permission. I think we can all relate to this. Ron
Carpok, I would love to know who this is. Bettenhausen ran the number 10 through the mid 50's but I am just not sure. Maybe post it on the Vintage Sprint Car thread, those guys can identify a cotter pin, for certain they would know who this was. Thanks.
Upon further research, Eddie Russo relieved Elisian for about 30 laps in 1956. And he did, indeed, pass away just last year.

My wife has relatives closeby. I've been there several times, it's magical. In the last few years they've tried to include all types of racing, NASCAR, road race, and every country to be PC. They owe nothing to anyone, wish they had stayed ALL Indy. But I will still go there every time I'm in the state.
I just knew this would be a question with a quick answer. Thanks Rootie, 1956 is one of the few Clymer Yearbooks that I do not have from the greatest Indy era of all, The Roadster Years. Thanks.
Truly a great museum ! You can also go to their archives room and look through photos of every car that has raced on their track even from way back in the teens, they will even make you copies of the photos to study at home.
The roadsters have always fascinated me as well. Look for more features as we get the research nailed down.
