What is the best way to get stuck pistons out? The engine wouldn't turn over so I took the crank out so only the pistons are out.

Put dry ice in the underside of the piston and wait till it is cool and push it out. May need to use a wood dowel and hammer depending on how stuck it is. This has worked for me.

If the crank is out you can drive the pistons out using a block of wood and 2 pound or better hammer. Depending on the bore size a piece of 4X4 works good.

Most of the time it's rust that the problem so a mild acid like bathroom bowl cleaner works well. just remember to rinse it down after.

When all else fails, and you are down to trying to just save the block, drill down the side of the piston with a 3/8 drill through the rings. Then with the BFH and a chisel, collapse the piston inward. You may need to sleeve the cylinder if the bit walks, but you can save the block.

If the pistons are aluminium. Make up a electrolysis tank. The washing soda will eat the rust and aluminium.
