I decided to drive the beater to work this morning. Got off to a good start and got er on the freeway. Bout 1 1/2 miles down the e-way, it stopped running. Oh ****. Threw it into neutral and coasted to the side of the road only to see the p***enger side seat smokin' like Cheech and Chong. All the electrical is under the seat along with the battery. ANyways, I figure something got jostled around just right to contact something it shouldn't touch and started a fire. I threw the interior out and managed to blow (insert sick jokes here) the fire out. It's repairable but will be re-wired this winter with everything under the cowl and a flat floor installed.
I owe Jdubbya big time as he left work to help my happy *** get the car home.
So far, Oct. ****s....first my water heater takes a dump and now this. Oh wee. **** happens and my number is up.

BTW.....A fire extinguisher will be in the car by Fri. afternoon.

Did anyone ever tell you that you have a "hot ***"?;) :D

One good thing, the wiring is really low tech, without alot of BS to contend with. Give FatHack a call over at his "Brainless Wiring" headquarters, I bet he can hook you up.

And this, kids, is why your teacher said learning to spell was so important! :D

Glad that everything ended well and the car survived. Oh, and glad you're not hurt either!

Only a true HAMBer can remove his interior in 60 seconds or less...

Post pics of after (the fire) and after the after (when you're done redoin' her)!

More like 7 seconds!! Consists of 2 cushions and the seat itself with a rusty ol tractor seat bolted to it.

As cheap as fire extinguishers are, I have one in all of my cars. Thank God I have not had to use one on my cars, but have emptied one on another guys carb that caught fire.

Keep a fire extinguisher, and have a battery disconnect that is easily accessible. That's for situations just like this.

Electrical fires are rarely contained without disconnecting the battery.

It'll be repaired this weekend and hopefully at Hardee's Sat. I'll let ya take it for a ride. It's faster and more fun with just one person anyways.

    Fess up...
How many of you have driven your car with an upside down milk crate and pillow for a seat or something similar?

Got home and surveyed the damage.....4 burnt wires and a damaged ego. The battery is fine and I'll learn if the voltage regulator is fine tonite.

The lead from the battery to the regulator got piched between the battery and metal battery carrier and ****...flames. The box will now have the edges covered in rubber and I re-routed alot of the wires. I'm planning on running it the rest of the season w/out a seat to see how I like riding in it real low before I relocate all the wiring this winter.

Got it back up and running w/out any fire drama. Also took it for a ride without the seat and I really like sitting right on the floor and I also don't look like I'm 8 ft. tall sittin' low.
