Went over to dads on Saturday and we got some more work done on the coupe. We got the bottom cowl feet all tied into the subrails and firewall. Then we started modifying the bottom firewall corners to fit the channel.

With some cutting, they fit very well. Still need to make a return flange on the inside edge.

A lot of guys will weld them on and smooth them off. We are going with the more "factory" look so we will rivet them back into place with original style rivets. The bolts are temporary for mockup.

After that we moved on to the B pillars. As you can see, the bottom was quite the mess.

    So we cut them out
    [IMG]

And used the old piece as a template
    [IMG]

I then put them into CAD and cut them out of 16ga on my CNC plasma...I know, its not traditional!

I will run a couple of beads where the skin recesses into and brake the flanges. Will be doing that tonight.

In order to get the B pillars straightened away, we need to hang the doors to make sure it will all line up. Unfortunately, the hinges on the doors were cut with a torch years ago by whoever took them off. We have 3 good hinges and will use them as templates. Heres what we are working with.

So, I started by cutting one of the torched hinges straight. I cut a piece of 3/16" flat stock to weld to it.

    Welded

I then needed to copy the original bends the stock hinge has. A while back my buddy Steve (toradorexlt) and I built this little press brake. Its primitive, but it works great for bending thicker material.

A couple bends and we are as good as stock. Here it is compared to the original.

Used a transfer punch to copy the holes from the original hinge. Drilled and tapped. Here is the finished product.

Only need to make a few more!

Thanks! The trans adapter and body both came from Randy Haubrich. He is a great guy and has helped us numerous times with parts and questions we've had.

He is definately a great guy... Has been helping me with my old stock car that used to race in Claremont back in the day. Definately a talented and helpful! I only live about 15-20 minutes away from his place, so it doesn't take long to go visit

Thanks Tex***peed. Been fighting a cold the past week so progress is a little slow but managed to get the drivers side B pillar bottom made and welded in. Here it is all bent up. I used the bead roller to make the "step" in it.

Welded in, still need to drill the bottom holes and rivet it into stock location
