In the mid 80's my dad and I built a 55 Chevy Bel Air. We finished putting it togethere the night before my senior prom. After a few years we sold the car to someone in the Boston area. We saw the car once more in 1995. The car still looked exactly the same. It was painted black cherry, black on a cloudy day, red pearl with the sun on it. It had a grey cloth interior with a stock bench seat. The car had black wall tires and True Spoke wire wheels. Across the bottom of the trunk lid it was lettered "sweet cherry wine" I would love to locate the car and make contact with the current owner. Or for that matter anyone that has owned it in the last twenty years as it may have changed hands. Does anyone remember this car?? Do you know who owns it?? Please help?!? Thanks, Glenn
You might try Chevytalk.com under the modified tri-five section as well. Real sweet and unique looking hardtop with those wires on it.
Thanks for the ideas guys. I just figured that since I am already on this forum and there are so many on here from the north east that someone may recognize it. If I don't get anywhere here I will try those other sites. Thanks, Glenn
I know this is an old thread, but I would love to find this car. Anyone out there recognize it? Thanks, Glenn
I found some old pictures. These were taken in 1994 I think. The car was just this side of Boston. The current owner at the time met us so we could catch up and see how the car was doing. This was the last time I ever saw it. I don't know where it is now, obviously. The guy in the middle of the first picture with the beard and the teal t-shirt was the current owner. Anyone???
Seriously. Give chevytalk.com a try. Someone there might be able to help. Sweet looking Sport Coupe!! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I will be searching for it at the shows/cruise nites, do you know which side of Boston? North or south?
By any chance do you have the vin number from it? I will keep an eye out here on the south coast. 55's are my favorite of the tri 5's. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Hey Chuck, The plate number is 594ENR. Would that help? Could the vin be gotten from that or even the owners over theyears? Paul
I don't have the vin # anymore. Wish I had done a better job of saving it. The owner was not in Boston, just up in the region. Not exactly sure what town. Those posted pictures date back to 1994 I believe? Thanks for the lookout guys, Glenn
Not sure how license plates work in diffrent states or how long you keep them etc. but any chance you could get someone to try and run those plates?
When are you talking about? My Dad and I sold the car back in 1990 I think. For all I know it could be back in CT?
sorry not recently, and it might not have been moodus. i can remember loving the color. it was probably when you owned it.
I have, and may do that. But I would love to find this particular car if possible. Hopefully some day I will find it. If not, then when the time comes for another project I will build a duplicate of this car.
Saw this today and reminded me of your search, dont think its your car but it reminds me of it. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/4350108127.html
Well folks, after searching for 10 years now, the car has been located. Apparently the guy I posted the photos of above sold the car to some guy who has owned it for 22 years, from what I understand it has been in Florida for some time now. That guy left the paint and interior as it was when I owned the car back in the late 80's. It was just purchased by a guy who while looking for any history on it found my post on Chevytalk.com. He contacted me, and is willing to sell it to me. Great news there, but, we haven't been able to nail down a price yet. And, if I can't get it done in a week it is heading overseas and will be sold over there. So clearly I now have a good news, bad news situation on my hands. Hopefully I can get a good resolution and buy my old car back. I will update once that is determined.
