Looking for a cam for my 300 /6 . I'm in the austin tx area , if anyone knows of a legit place let me know thanks..
66juiced, Contact Berry Cam from Lester Prairie, Minnesota. They have been re-grinding cams since the late 1950's. Better people to work with can't be found. Reasonable prices too...far less than new stuff. Am running two, soon to be three vintage circle track cars with 300's. All have cams from Berry. They ups cams all over the USA every day. Worken2much
Have had many custom cams made. Comp cams made my last one (actually last two)to my specs for my slant six rail. A big thumbs up! They have a huge lobe library and I was able to find the int lobe and ex lobe I wanted and have it ground on a new core to my specified lobe centre. One day service BTW. Don
I will Definetly look into those two thanks a lot guys .. Not really trying to go fast just want some bump if ya know what I mean ...
I used a comp 256h on a 300 in a bronco with the Offenhauser DP intake, Holley 390, and later EFI exhaust. Also did screw in studs and chevy six style rockers. Motor runs great and pulls the full size Bronco with authority. Love that engine.
I don't know how custom you need but this place quoted me a Pontiac hemi cam. Take a look at them. http://www.nielsoncams.com/
Didn't want to start a new thread . I have a question might b dumb but I don't know the answer . Can I put a camshaft with some bump if I running a bone stock engine ? I know different springs and lifters are a must but what about the 1 barrel carb and stock exhaust ? Is it even gonna sound good and run worth a funk ? Thanks guys !
What engine are you working on? Bone stock engines will work with a mild came. If your going for a better sounding cam you will need to do it all. Compression it something you will need to change. Talk with cam company they know best for your application.
The major problem with stock in-line 6's is the restrictive intake and the restrictive exhaust. Period. A 300cid six has 50 cubic inches per cylinder (so does a 400cid V8). Spending money on a cam with "a little bit of bump" won't do anything for that engine. You're better off spending money on removing the restrictive intake and exhaust, and then talk to the experts at your favorite Cam Company for a camshaft compatible with your set-up.
Does Berry Cam Service have a website anymore? I haven't been able to find a usable link since they had a fire a few years ago.
