Hello everyone - I am a new member living in Lansing, MI now, originally from north of Boston to Lakes region in NH and spent a lot of time in So Cal. My Grandfather was a racer back in the 40s - 50s although I had little contact with him over the years - I have been told by family members that I am a lot like him...
I was hoping some of the members here might be able to either recognize him or maybe can add some info about him or the places he used to race: Much of his racing was between 1945 and 1953/4 at Hudson, NH, Groveland and Peabody, MA - he raced Sprints and Midgets and had his eye on Indy but I don't believe he ever got close enough to that. His name was Robert (Bob) Walter FOss - born 1915 in Newburyport, MA - lived mostly in Beverly and Hamilton, MA until he moved out to California where he died in Riverside in 1973. If there is anyone here that can provide any more info it would be greatly appreciated... Here is the only pic I have of him other than his Navy 'dress' portrait:

    Welcome from Philadelphia PA area.

Your grandpa sounds like he was a very cool racer. I'm not one who can help you with info on your grandfather but it's amazing how this kind of thing can work on this forum.

PS: my older son who's just finishing his senior year in high school got accepted and is going to Michigan State Univ. right there near Lansing.
