  1. Barn find- Do you know the make of the one in post 88?
I know I'm slower than the second coming but I did get some space cleaned up so I can bring it home. I've been lookin for an engine/trans but haven't found the right setup yet. Thanks for posting and I'll still post more when there's some action.

I don't. I stole the photo off the web somewhere. I ***umed it was a Lincoln based on the grill shape. The wheels look like 28-29 Ford AA truck wheels.

    Here's another Lincoln truck.

  3. Started dragging bits home today. Cowl, doors, hood top and sides. Snagged a couple cool old signs too. Gonna have to start looking for good advise on removing aluminum from steel and vice versa. Gonna be graceful, ain't it? :)

  4. From the other side. Also, a close up of the hood- that's one reason I enjoy living in the desert. I brushed away some flaky paint and there sits bare metal. Got that boys on the peninsula? Bare metal. There's some surface rust and the bottom
Edge of the hood is ice-cycles but I'm pretty sure that hasn't changed in the 30 years since it was toted over from Issaquah. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369627384.942353.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369627417.937355.jpg
Will be interesting to carve new wood for this thing too.. Well, like I said- I'm aiming for a truck as it would've been after this vehicle was no longer a "new luxury car", more of a farmers second life for it. Read that as - it ain't gonna win a concours

  5. That Motorola speaker is the cats ***!!!

  6. Hi Flo- I glanced at it and ***umed it was a heater. It's hanging below the dash on the p***enger side. I looked up Motorola heaters and only came up with gasoline powered ones so far. I'll go check it out in the morning and see what the heck it is.

  7. Maybe it is a heater.
I just figured being Motorola it would be a radio thing
    Now we need to know

The purpose of twin ignition is the same reason aircraft have twin ignition. If one ignition system fails, the engine keeps on running. That keeps airplanes from falling out of the sky and fire trucks from breaking down on the way or in the middle of pumping. Some city's insurance would be cancelled if a fire truck was to old or didn't have dual ignition. The main reason so many were repowered is the v12 just plain ****ed in a fire truck. They did get terrible mileage, but they were mostly terribly underpowered in a 20,000lb truck. They constantly crack between the valves , are hard to get parts for and are a devil to keep in time and keep the carbs synchronized. I work on several 700 series v12 ALfs and 2 1941 Seagrave V12s. I'm one of those SPAAMFAA wierdos. Having worked on many of them, I can tell you the Pierce-Arrow design Seagrave engine is a far more reliable and better built engine than the Lycoming American LaFrance engine. In a car that doesn't way 20,000lbs and run full throttle for hours on end, a Seagrave engine will do well.

Patch it, mend it, drive it. My most fun car is/was cut down into a truck and looks like the beverly hillbillies owned it.

  11. The twins have taken to calling the new project "the train". It's about as svelte as a locomotive I suppose ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369799588.703225.jpg

I have some fender for a Pierce Arrow for sale if you are needing some. They have some surface rust and a few holes rusted through. They would be good fenders to work with. I also have a dash, back seat clock, hubcap and possibly more as I inventory a recent purchase of a 50 year parts collection. Pierce Arrow as a hot rod oh hell yeah!!!!!
