I have a spare set of 3.08 ring and pinion gears in my garage, how much in parts and labor would it cost to replace the 4.11 currently installed? Any guesses/opinions?
Another factor is do you want to drive to a shop and give them the keys or do you just want to drop off the center section and do the installation yourself? Charlie Stephens
As someone else asked, are you doing the labor yourself or taking it to the shop? Basic installation kits start around $25 (gaskets, seal and not much else) all the way to master overhaul kits running over $400 depending on your make and model of axle. In some cases you might even have to change out the carrier that the ring gear mounts on depending on the make of rear end you have. I have two different GM 10 bolt carriers laying on the shelf at home right now. And none of the information above includes labor costs. I have seen times when it was cheaper to buy a complete used axle depending on your application. You need to give more specifics in order to get accurate answers.
