I finally decided to join after enjoying the posts on various topics for a while. I built my own version of a custom bead roller after seeing some fantastic bead roller builds here and getting inspired! I'll post pics in the appropriate forum.

I also stumbled upon a old tool and cleaned it up for sale, one I think some folks may be interested in--again, will post about that in the appropriate forum.

Looking forward to seeing what else is around to inspire.

    Thanks!

    Hey Smokey2,

Sorry, figured folks would check out the profile for that, but I'm happy to post it.

I own a small metal fab shop (Dixie Fried Fabrication) in So Cal/Inland Empire--the heart of Route 66. I've been working on vehicles since the days of yore back on the farm in Iowa, before the EPA and CARB...started on tractors and motorcycles, like all the kiddos.

I have two project cars: one is a '49 F1 Ford body I'm putting on a '86 Ford F700 chassis/frame (with mods, of course).
The other is a '62 Mercury Meteor Gasser. Started it with a friend, he just got married and "now he doesn't need it", so I'll be selling it (for a song!) to get it out of the shop. I want to focus on my own projects.

I also work on experimental aircraft--old school, of course. I'm a private pilot, and love the classic airplanes too.

The HAMB has offered me a lot of inspiration, so I figured it was time to join up. And I did post pics of the bead roller.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome On. My Dad had a 62 Meteor family type car but he was disapointed in the power out put & bought a Galaxy 500 with an FE block just a few years later. I always got a kick out of those tail lights. I'm not a pilot but I am a mechanic as you might tell from my handle, a fixer of helicopters. I just ride in em I don't fly em but its an interesting living for sure. There are a bunch of aviation related folks on this board.

You should be able to find some big fenders for the truck project pretty easy. Most folks steal the larger F series cabs to fix their F1s & leave the fenders to rust.

Welcome.................................................................................................................. The name {{Dixie Fried}} sounds more like a southern outfit than a Calif base operation.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Dixie Fried, I like the food, and the song. The only thing keeping me in SoCal is my girl and the weather don’t suck but other wise I’d find some were else to be.
Helicopters make me nervous for some reason. But I do like the idea of just swapping fenders.
