I agree on the first2. But it was common to remove the hub caps when shipping.

Actually the hub caps were not removed, they were not installed at the factory at all. For a number of reasons some accessories were just shipped in the trunk and installed during the PDI.

Hub caps, floor mats, roof racks, door edge guards, etc.

My favorite was our 1968 Z28 racer. Came with the headers in a box on the back seat and the cowl induction kit in the trunk along with the hubcaps. No roof rack. :D Of course my favorite salesman had to sneak a white vinyl top on the order sheet while I wasn't looking.

Came in on the delivery truck on Saturday afternoon and took pure stock eliminator on Sunday.... :)

Not a HAMB car though so it's back out to working on my Model A.

  5. I discovered a little trick in Flikr. If you click on a picture there will be some text and symbols added at the bottom of the pic. If you click on the little balloon you will open up a neat improvement. Try it. And give yourself a dopeslap for me.:eek:

The Santa Fe # 3751 was on static display at the Santa Fe ( Later Amtrak) Train Station In San Bernardino from 1958 until 1986. I was there the day they laid temporary track down and moved it to begin the restoration. At the time I was attending San Bernardino Valley College just down the street.

Any idea what she's doing to that knock off on that Austin-Healey 100-4?

I'll have to correct myself. With that embossed trim line in the front fender and side curtains, not to mention the outside door handle, it is either a 100-6 or an early 3000.

Lena Horne with a group of Tuskegee Airmen on January 1, 1945. There are countless photos of Ms. Horne visiting Tuskegee Airmen and other military personnel to show her support for their service. She also showed her support for them by refusing to perform for segregated military audiences during World War II. Photo: Associated Press.

Big push in the 80's to engrave your driver's licence number on everything to hold down theft. Didn't hold down theft, and ruined a lot of guns.....:(

  15. LF= LEFT FRONT... Knock offs had lefty tighty treads as well and it was a good idea to have an arrow pointing to the end to whack to loosen the wheel!

Those knock-offs usually had the arrow stamped into them. If you look closely at the photo, you can see it on the left front one. I think she is probably engraving ID as suggested.

The Studebaker version of the small mail van. They were called Zip Vans because of the new zip codes the Postal Service had introduced.
