SoCal speed shop rant

  1. I bought a Weezer print through SoCal Sacramento last week and received it today. I was "sticker shocked" pardon the pun, to find 3 stickers on the back all with different prices. One for $99.99, another at $19.99 and the last at $15.00 :confused::confused:
So I called SoCal and was told that the costs go up when the print is harder to find. This particular one is fairly common, I find out after the fact, and the explanation given is rising costs.
My rant is more in the fact that they left the previous prices intact. Whatever happened to the multiple pricing and getting it for the lowest price customer service?

So, what price did you pay and aren't you happy with it?

I gotta say that Weez is pretty accessible and easier to deal with that most other second hand retailers of his goods.

No. The cl***es I needed for completion won't be offered this summer, so I have to go one more semester this fall. But the instructor says I can sit in on some summer cl***es and keep in practice. Off the record, though.

That isn't uncommon in business, prices do go up and sometimes employees miss pulling off an old price tag. We get customers all the time who put a product back on the wrong peg and then the next guy comes along and thinks it should be at the lower price. The final test is always the register, if you don't like the price that it comes up at, don't buy it.

Better that than buying a steak and finding three older labels under the price tag...

I don't know about all that. The retailer might have paid 5 bucks for it to begin with and it went up 80 bucks on the second hike? I get that it may be getting hard to find but unless there is some hug jump in price in the collectors market that's kind of ****py to just jack the price like that.

  11. I saw someone returning meat at Wal-Mart customer service. I don't buy meat at Wal-Mart any more.

The OP hasn't said what price he paid or if he was quoted a price when he called. I'm sure he was told a price or it was shown when advertised, so what's the problem? he' seems to be pissed the price went up, but what difference should that make unless it went up after he ordered it.

So far, much ado about nothing.

That's kind of why I asked you about school. This was going nowhere fast.
Have you decided what kind of welding you are leaning toward?

I picked up MIG really quick. The way the courses are laid out promotes making MIG and TIG easier to learn. Once I finished stick, which was basically how to lay beads, MIG was easy. TIG took a while to catch on to, but I've only had one semester of it. I'll be going to advanced MIG and TIG next semester.

I love MIG, but that's because I picked it up so fast and it's in demand around Houston, but TIG is so much cleaner looking and the pay is 25% better. I can see myself working in a MIG environment, while getting better with TIG on the side.

I'm going to buy a machine before I'm finished, so I'm steering towards a Miller MIG/TIG combo machine. I'm VERY pleased with the school and considering I had never held a torch before, my instructors are amazed at my progress.

  17. There's 3 prices on the back -
    15, 20, & 100.
I doubt there'd be arrant over 15 or 20 bucks.
Now I also doubt they aren't easier to find at this momemt than the moment when it was first marked 100.00. So I'd imagine that the price was much closer to 100.00 than to 20.00 this includes up to but not over 180.00. Because at 181.00 it would actually be closer to 20 than 100 by 1.00 absolute value calculation.

I’m on my way home from work last week when I see an early 60s convertible Corvette in my rearview mirror jockeying around cars to catch up with me. I know the car fairly well, as I see it around often. The Vett is very nice and in original condition. Runs a mild small block & 4 speed. He does a few quick maneuvers through traffic and stages next to me at a traffic light. There are no cars in front of us and the section of street has no cross streets or driveways for someone to pull in front of us until the next stop sign. He never looked at me so I’m wondering if he is serious or just messing around. The Vett is a cl***ic so I figured I would just stay cool and see what he does. The light turns green and he dumps the clutch and leaves with the tires smoking. I’m already rolling and decide to nail it but he already has a little over two car lengths on me. We both chirp second gear and I catch and fly by him fairly quick. I stop at the stop sigh to give him a thumb’s up and tell him that was *****en. To my surprise he blows the stop sign at about 15 mph while checking cross traffic and nails it. The street goes to a single lane at this point. I cruz from the stop sign as I watch him blow around a car in front of him and barely make it back into his lane before colliding with oncoming traffic. I couldn’t believe what just happened. After it was all over I was about ready to fall out of my seat laughing. Wow I’ve seen sour losers but this was at a whole new level. The funny thing was I was ready to praise the guy for how nice his car was and the opportunity to run against a true cl***ic.

Still puts a grin on my face

I would be inclined to listen to anything that you have to say but I couldn't get more that one line in. It isn't Weezer!!! It's Weezner!!! He isn't a ****ty pop rock band. He is a ****ing kick*** artist. Furthermore buy the prints from him so he gets the cash. Not someone else. Geez we take care of our own.

    Ok rant over.

  23. Sorry for the spelling on the artist and eye to keyboard dexterity isn`t what it used to be.
    $85.95 shipped on eBay.
As per my original post..."sticker shock"
If I was in the business of selling a product, I would guarantee that on a price increase, I would be sure to remove all traces of past pricing.
Yeah I am pissed off with the response I got from SoCal especially with the $$$`s I have spent in the past on their product.

When I am in the business of buying a product, I generally look around for the best price and don't blindly buy the very first one I find on ebay. I love the Weez but would never pay $100 for a print.

having worked in a grocery/butcher store oh so many years ago, it is not at all uncommon that people return meat. It is what the store does with it that matters ;)

There's a possibility the lower prices were what SoCal paid for the prints. If so, that's a tidy mark up, but never the less, leaving it on was just a mistake. So, they really didn't do anything wrong. If anything, I'd be pissed about paying $89.95 for something that's valued at $15 or $20. But, you did hit the "pay" ****on for $89. If you're not happy with the transaction return it. This doesn't make SoCal a bad company. Just a company with a healthy profit margin.

i was debating responding to this because i thought it was strange that it was posted after you voiced your complaint to both myself and the manager, but here is our side of the story:

    1. the price was known ahead of time. we didn't charge you more than we said we were going to.
    2. the price we offered you and charged you was LESS than the advertised price.
    3. as prices go up on prints that are no longer available, so does the retail.
    4. this is the very first item you have EVER bought from us. not that that makes us less inclined to help you out as a customer, but don't go around saying you've been shopping with us for years.

the bottom line is that you were shipped the item you wanted for the price agreed upon. plain and simple. i'm sorry that it had old price tags on the back that were covered with new ones, but i just don't see it as being that big of an issue.
