Here are some pics. of my current project. I picked up the 1933 Ford pickup cab on ebay kind of by accident. This is the first time it has been outside so I can stand back and take a look. There is still a lot of work ahead, lowering the grille for one. The frame is a modified 1940 Ford that I had around along with the front axle, bones and spindles. The 8.8 is located with some leafs I removed from a trailer I had sitting in the back 40. I'm really trying to use up stuff I have around and keep it as low buck as possible. I do not have an engine yet but plan to use a QUAD 4 with a T-5. I have chopped the cab three inches and the bed is of unknown origin that I shortened up.
That's a really nice start! I love how much you chopped the cab, not too much, just right! Lookin' forward to see how it comes out!
A Few more pics. Tailgate is from an F-1, shortened and narrowed and a mid '40's GM dash. It is all mig welded together with a lot of hammer and dolly and shrinking disc work. The tie rod is made from 7/8" DOM that I bent to go behind the grille shell. the front frame rails are made from 2"X5" .125 rectangular tubing.
I like how your design is so well themed/thought out - nice metal work as well. The chop, stance, and the overall look is lookin' real sweet - looking forward to more progress ...
I'm moving a bit slow on this project but have made a little progress. I found an adapter for the T-5 and the engine and transmission are in. I plan to use the gas tank from the donor vehicle, electric fuel pump and all. As I had to set the caster on the axle any way I decided to shorten up the wheel base by 4 inches at the same time. Now at 108". Also got the grille shell lowered to a more proportional location. Still quite a ways to go!!
Very nice build...and I really like that dash !!! (And here is why) Looks just like mine.. Good choice ... Cheers..
The engines not working for me, but it does look good with the way the build is going. Why the engine choice? Just because it was available or do you see some benefits in using the Quad?
